Sri Rama Pattabhishekam

(Coronation of Rama)

Preface : -Thus having returned the Pushpaka Vimana to Kubher thought he should not enter Ayodhya without the consent of Bharatha, Rama was staying in Nandi grama. Ayodhya citizenry also did not have the heart to be away from him and stayed on. Kaushalya and other Queens were also surrounding Rama. Bharatha inferring from Rama’s predicaments, gestures understood his real intention and spoke thus.

Bharatha with his hands raised and Folded Looked at the Great Soul and his elder brother Rama said following. Kaykeyi hearing those words her face blossomed and was really happy. (Folded hands means he was reminding Rama he had no refuge other than him).

“Lord! Since You declined to take charge of this Kingdom and went to Forest, You had pleased my Mother’s mind. Then in Chithrakoot you entrusted this Kingdom to me. So the Koshala Kingdom which you had left with me in custody now I have returned to you for ever. But you will say “You can return to me when I ask until such time you continue to govern and let me enjoy the Luxuries and Comforts of a King in Ayodhya”. When a Full grown OX which had hitherto bearing the Vehicle of the Cart if it entrusts it to a small Calf will it be able to bear the Load? If that be the case ‘how did you so far manage’ You may ask.

To stem the current of the River flow Branches of Trees, Paddy, Tree etc materials are put to block and reduce the tide and firmly construct the Dam to stop it. If it is not done so properly there can be leaky spots here and there and through them water seeps and finally blows the dam away. Similarly this governing of the state too is not easy. The King should have the Best and Noblest Virtues as the foundation of strong Dam the secrets of Kingdom will leak quickly. You will say ‘can’t you with Good Virtues rule the subjects?’. Can there be a Comparison between Pure breed Horse walk & Donkey’s walk? Will Crow be Like the King Swan? Can any one else step in Your Shoes? But You will say ‘I will also be supportive to you. You continue to rule this Kingdom’ A family man plants a seed of a Pure breed Tree to grow and reap the benefit Later. Over a period of time it flings its Branches out far and wide full of flowers and thus was beautiful to look at. But not a single Fruit came out of it. If that was so what was the benefit to the person who grew it? Our Father for 60,000 years did not have children. Then he did Ashwamedha, Puthra kameshti Yagams and then he begot you as Son. You grew accoding to the tenets and into a handsom person who was well wisher of the World with all the Traits and Noblest Virtues as Your Character. So he thought he will entrust the Kingdom to You and reap the benfits of his efforts.Now You have the ability to govern the entire Universe with Dharma, filled with full of all Virtuous traits, also as the Eldest son only should be the King as per our Lineage’s culture, If You do not rule then what is the benefit for those who bore you and brought you up? Like the Sun in Mid day gives Light and Life to the entire eath You be seated in the Throne and allow to perform Pattabhishekam Mahotsavam (Great Coronation Ceremony of the King) thus shower well beings to one and All, which we all will witness and enjoy and Rejoice.Early morning with Honey like Songs, with Musical intruments sounds, with golden anklets adorned Noble Ladies dancing, You being awakend we would see and be happy. You only are worthy of enjoying all the Luxuries and Comforts, You will ask “You are also born with me Don’t you too have desires? Until Sun & Moon exist You only should govern us is our motto and prayer” said Bharatha.

Rama accepting the Bharatha’s Charanagathi (Last resort is to fall at God's Feet shedding one's Ego, Anger, Attachment, Desire, intelligence and seek his guidance, with the Faith that God knows what is in store for us), sat down in the Choicest of Seat. Then Sahtrugna called Barbers who could comfortably, quickly, cleverly, they removed the Jhattas (Matted Hairs) of Rama Lakshmana Bharatha & Shatrugna After Bharatha, Lakshmana, Sugreeva, Vibheeshana were bathed with Unique Garlands and Perfumes, Garments, Ornaments Shatrugna adorned Rama, Lakshamana his twin brother. Dasaratha’s wives did all the decorations to Sita themselves. Tara and other Vanara Ladies were also decorated by Kaushalya due to her abundant affinity for Rama. Due to Shatrugna’s order Ikshwaku clan Charioteer Sumanthara brought the King’s Charriot with pure bred steeds. Rama was thrilled to see the Chariot which shone like Sun’s Cosmos. And boarded it, Sugreeva and Hanuman went along with Rama who was shining like the Indra dazzling in Aura with Choicest Garments & Ornaments. Sugreeva’s Wives went with Sita who was adorned beautifully went along with her as they wanted to see Ayodhya.

Then in Ayodhya Sage Vasishta and Dasaratha’s Ministers collected the materials nedded for Rama’s Coronation. All of them Ashoka, Vijaya, Sumanthra they prayed to Sage Vasishta “All well being be showered on Rama, and may his all Sukham (Comfort, Luxury, Joy, Fun, Cheer, Love, Affection and fulfilled Desires) multiply. Let this City and Kingdom be always propitious to prosperity, Blessed with abundance in Health, Wealth, Happiness, joy, Fun, Cheer all the Time and bereft of Poor, sick, theft, grief. So let us do all the Auspicious Tasks with out any short comings” said they.They returned to see Rama. With Divine Horses tied and Charioteered by Mathali and the Deva entourages Indra comes, Similarly Rama in Divine Chariot charioteered by Sumanthra with Brothers, Vanaras, Rakshasaas, People accompanying him they saw him. Bharata was holding the reigns and was seated near Sumanthara steering the Chariot. Shatrugna was holding the Ikshwaku Dynasty Umbrella over Rama’s head. Lakshmana was standing in front of Rama and moving the white Chaamaram (Hand fans made of Quills symbolising Royal insignia). Rakhsasaas King was having the other Chaamaram (Hand fans made of Quills symbolising Royal insignia). At that juncture in the Sky Lane Devas (Celestials), Dhanav(Demon), Gandharva (Musicians), Kinnaras, Vidhtadharas, Pisacha (Ghosts), Uraga (Fortune telling angels) and Pannaga (Serpents clan), Yaksha (Spirits), Garuda (Eagles), Sidhas, Sadhyas, Marut and all of their entourages were conversing about the slaying of Ravana and Rakshasasaas and giving them also safety and Solace they were singing in praise of Rama those lilting music was heard. The Satryu jaya Elephant which is like a mini Mountain secreting its Rouguish secretion Liquid duly caparisoned atop of it was seated Sugreeva was shining akin to Indra on top of Ayiravath tusked Celestial Elephant. Other Vanaras in Human forms with all decorations came on top of 9000 Majestic elephants. Thus with Conch, Beri Dhundhubi drums, and Musical instruments like Veena Mridangam, etc playing Raghu Warrior moved towards Ayodhya. Ministers Blessed him saying ‘Jaya Vijayee Bhava’ felicitated by him, they followed him. Rama surrounded by Subjects, Brahmins, Ministers was akin to the Moon in a Star studded Sky. In front of him many were playing Auspicious instruments like Shenoy, Nadaswara etc. Many were playing Swasthikam and other instruments. Young maidens, Brahmins, were taking termeric mixed Yellow rice went in front. Many were taking Modhak (Coconut Sweet encompassed in baked Rice batter), Cows with best Features were also there in that procession) Rama expounded in detail to the Ministers the friendship with Sugreeva, Vayu son’s Prabhavam (Greatness , Aura, Blessings, Grace), Valiant Prowess of Vanaras, Strength of Rakshsaas Vibheeshana’s cooperation. Hearing that the Citizens were awestruck.

Thus while talking Rama entered Ayodhya whih is inhabited by People who have all facilities. In each House, garlands, Flower, decorations, Rangoli, Arches, Flags, Masts etc were uniquely strung. Rama blessed by his subjects entered the palace where Inshwaku Dynasty Kings have been Living for generations. Did Namaskarams to Queens Kaushalya, Sumithra, Kaikeyi spoke to Bharatha“. Let Sugreeva stay in my Palace with Ashoka Grove”. Bharatha understood his intentions of those words, Took Sugreeva holding his hand to that Palace. Then the Palace helpers as per Sahtrugna’s orders Lighted the wick Lamps, arranged Sofa, spread the carpets, Beds to those respective Palaces. Then Sahtrugan spoke to Sugreeva “Lord! please send Vanaras for the Coronation of Rama”. Vanaras Leaders were called gave Golden Vessels said “Hey Vanaras! Before it dawns from the oceans ( Atlantic in west ) , Indian / Antartic Ocean in ( South), Pacific (In East) Artic Ocean (North) in 4 Directions, from Holy places as well, please bring purest water and be ready by then“ thus ordained. Immediately the Vanaras like the Majestic Elephants in size took off to Sky went like Garuda (King of Eagle) went very fast. Jhambhavaan, Hanuman, Vedagarchi, Rishaba went and brought from 500 Holy Rivers water. Sushena from the east sea, Rishaba from south, Kavaya from West sea, Nala from Northern sea brought waters. When the waters from Holy Places and Oceans were reached Shatrugna informed Sage Vasishta, Ministers and other Friends.

Then Guru of Ikshwaku Dynasty Emperors great Sage Vasishta who has Long Life pacifying his Indriyas and Manam { Chitha (Memory) + Inner Conscience Mind + Intellect (Bhuddhi) + Ego} taking the permission of all Brahmins, made Sri Rama be seated with Sita devi in the Gem studded Throne. Like 8 Vasus bathe Indra, Vasishta, Vamadeva, Jhabali, Kashyapa, Kathyayana, Suyagnya, Gowthama, Vijaya 8 Great Souls reciting Veda Manthras they bathed Rama Chandra with Holy waters mixed with natural perfumes as per procedure did Pattabhishekam (Holy Bath Confering King Status ) coronation. Then with all medicinal herbs essence mixed with Holy water Rithviks, Brahmins, Kanya (Young Girl Child <8 years), Ministers, warriors, Trade Luminaries did Abhishekam for Rama.

In the sky Lane Administrators of the World, Deva entourages, were standing and enjoyed it Blissfully. Shatrugan held the white Umbrella. Sugreeva fanned the Chamara (Royal Insignia).

Indira sent God Vayu with a shining garland of Lotus Flowers made in Gold and a Pearl necklace adorned with Navarathnas (1.Kembu- Ruby 2. Komedhaga - Sardonyx 3. Neela -Saphire 4. Maragadaha-Emerald 5. Pavazham –Coral 6.Pushparagam –Topaz 7. Manickam -Carbucle8. Muthu –Pearl 9. VAIRAM/Vaidooriyam- Diamond/Lapis Lazuli). Devas & Ghandarvas at that juncture sang melodiously. Apsara ganas very exquisitely dancing, Earth was flourishing with Paddy of all grains, Trees were filled with Fruits, the fragrance from Flowers were awesome, Countless Cows, Calves, Oxen, Horses, 300 Million (30Crore) Gold Coins , different Varieties of Ornaments, Garments were distributed to Brahmins and all Citizens. Rama presented to Sugreeva a Golden Necklace with Navarathna gems studded in it, this was shining like the Sun. To Vali’s son Anghadah he presented Shoulder bands embedded with Navarathan Gems. He gave Sita a necklace which was embedded with gems which was shining soothing like Moon’s illuminence. She gave Choicest Garments and Necklaces to Anjaneya after obtaining Rama’s consent by an Eye Glance. Then She removed the Necklace in her Neck, She saw all Vanaras and her and Husband often. Rama understood her intention and said “Sithey! To whom You have special affinity, in whom limitless Manliness, Valiant Prowess, Intellect is permeating You can give him this as reward” Immediately Sita gave the Necklace to Anjhaneya. Due to that Hanuman shone like the Clouds illuminated by Moon’s shine. Maindha, Dwvidha, Neel were also appropriately rewarded as per their Noble Virtues with Garments, Ornaments in abundance. Vibheeshana, Sugreeva, Hanuman, Jhambhavaan and other Vanaras duly receving their compliments of Gems, Garments, Ornaments, returned to their Houses. Vanaras witnessed the coronation ceremony of Rama were Happy, took leave from Rama and went back to Kishkinda. Lord of Rakshasaas Vibheeshana took the Dynasty wealth of Sri Ranganatha and left for Lanka. Vibheeshana having all the Enemies earned immense Fame and ruled with Dharma.

Rama Raj:: (Goldern Era justice in Universe)

Rama cared for his Citizens as though they were his own Children, he did rule by wiping out the wicked, and praising the Dutiful. Then he called “Lakshamana! Hey intelligent who is the knower of all Dharmas This Kingdom which was ruled by our forefathers you also join me in ruling the same. I am appointing you as the Crown Prince”. Despite Rama telling number of times Lakshmana did not relent. Rama made Bharatha as the Crown Prince and did coronation. He performed countless Yagas like Poundareekam, Ashwamedha, Vajaypayeea. He ruled the country for 11,000 Years. With abundant Dakshina (Fees for conducting Yaagas) he performed countless Ashwamedha Yaagas during his tenure. With his Long Arms stretched upto his knees, with a Chest broad like Meru Mountain, as a Great Prathaapa (Glory, Fame, Greatness) Rama, always supported by Lakshmana ruled the World. He performed many Yaagas with his Relations, Friends. During his time there were no widows. No troubles from Cruel wild Animals. There were no Diseases. No fear of Thiefs. There were none who had bad times, as they were taken care by the state. None died at wrong time visavis their family duty. All peacefully spent their Life. The Aacharam (Respectful behavior Courteous, Humble, clean, pure in thought action and deed) of Rama who was embodiment of Dharma, was also followed by Citizens and they did not trouble each other. They had lived for thousands of years, and begot thousands of Children without ailments, sorrow they Lived Happily. Whe Rama ruled the kingdom every one chanted Ram Ram and praised and celebrated.

The entire world was Celebrating and appreciating Rama all the while. In all seasons Trees with broad branches, were blooming with Fruits & Flowers. Rains pored on time every season. Winds breezed through pleasantly. All sections of society were not greedy. They did there duties as per the culture of their clan. All citizens were interested in Dharma and as all their actions related to Dharma and were truthful, straightforward with all good features. Sri Rama was supported by his brothers had ruled the Kingdom for 11,000 Years in a matchless manner with Aura and was Golden Age.

Great Sage Valmiki who scripted this epic will give kings Wealth, Fame, Long Life, Success. Those who Read this Ramayana and Heard, will be released from Sins. Those who hear the Rama Pattabhisheka Mahothsavam (Cornonation ceremony of Rama) if he desires for Sons will beget Sons; desires for wealth, he will get wealth. If he is King he will win over his enemies. If they are Ladies Like Kaushalaya got Rama and Sumithra got Lakshmana and Kaykeyi got Bharatha they will get Noble long living Sons. The person who hears the Ramayana and the Victory of Rama will Live for Long. This epic created by Valmiki clarifies the meaning of Vedas. The person who hears this Kavyam – epic by controlling his Anger and Lust/Desire with Shradha (devotional focused Implementation) is able to cross all problems and hurdles of perceptions / doubts. If he had goen abroad / far off he rejoins his children and friends. He gets the Boons from Rama. He gets Boons from Dasratha. All Dities have affinity to the person who hears the Ramayana. On his house God Vinayaka becomes very happy. If he is King, he will win the world. If he had gone on pilgrimage he will reach home safely. Young women if they hear they will get Noble Sons. This oldest History if oen reads daily with reverence, he is released from all Sins and Lives Long. Kshtriyas should worship and hear from Brahmins. They will get boundless wealth and Children. Whenever one hears this Ramayana fully or reads fully, Rama has an unerasable Affinity towards Him. Isn’t he the Maha Vishnu? 1st Deva, great person, Lord of all, Adiseha only took birth as Lakshmana.Those Who hear this great Auspicious Kaviyam - Epic will have expansion of their Family with Children / grand Children, growth of wealth, Granary and ideal Happiness / comfort. All Purusharthas {(1) Dharma-Righteous conduct- Duty- Pious- humble-Charity -being Noble (2) Material-money, (3) Desire-ambition-Children, (4) Moksha-Attain God’s feet}will be obtained. All aspirations of Manam {Chitha (Memory) + Inner Conscience Mind + Intellect (Bhuddhi) + Ego}will conclude. They will get Noblest Lady as Life Partner. They will have Good Health and Long Life, fame, Unity of Brothers, sharp Intellect, Eternal Sukham (Comfort, Luxury, Joy, Fun, Cheer, Love, Affection and fulfilled Desires). It will confer Aura, Vitality, strength. Those desirous of earning wealth should hear with discipline.

This epic has been told in this way, which happened many many years ago is

17,50,000 years as per Nasa picture of Ram Sethu. May all Auspicious Blessing be showered to all of you who hear or read this Ramayana. The power of Vishnu which is beyond comprehension, description by words or attainable with Physical body may that grow and be with conviction without shame tell to others. By Reading and Hearing Ramayana all the Devas (Celestails) rejoice. Those who write this Valmiki Ramayana which is equal to Vedas with devotion will Live Happily in Heaven for ever. (Slokas 134)
