Rama’s precepts on Dharma to Bharatha
These two great Humans thus were suffering with their friends the night passed with great difficulty. It Dawned. Then they went to Mandhakini river to do their daily Karma and came to Rama. After all of them were seated in their respective places Bharatha got up and said “ Anna(Elder brother) ! ‘Emperor has given your Kingdom to Kayikyei on Charity. That cannot be Changed by you ‘ thus you may object. That struck me too; ‘Kayikeyei if she opposes this , our thoughts will not frutify’ thus I in many ways convinced her. ‘ The object given to me cannot be used by some other means’ thus you may say. But am I not your salve? As per Sashtraa the Slave has no permanent lean on anything. The Slave’s Kingdom should be rightfully yours. Hence please take charge of your Kingdom without any hindrance in your hands and rule. You may ask ‘can you not rule?’.Like in the Monsoon when the banks have broken and the floods are ravaging, you cannot plug /repair the boken Shore ; none else can govern and administer this Kingdom better. How much is the gap between Pure Breed Horse which runs in the speed of Air and Donkey? ; how much differecne between Great Eagle and a Saprrow; Do i have one in Millions part of your Power/ Capability? It is only the Blessed who can give shelter to others.his Life is only adorable. Person who lives on others is his Life worth the Living?
A person by seeding in a fertile Land and nurtured it every day, by safe guarding it. Over a period of time it grew into the plant and later on became a huge tree towering towards the sky with many branches and seen from afar, thus it fourished. A dwarf, thief and weak not dare to climb on it. After it has blossomed with Flowers and does not yield Fruits , the owner who planted it , nurtured it, waiting to eat the fruits is of no use and cause miseries to him. Anna this example is said for you. You are a Great intelligent person, you can infer my thoughts { King nurtured, Rama is the tree, Flowers are the Coronation planned; Rama ruling the Kingdom is the Fruit). You are our Lord and protector can you be alien not to protect your Servants? May the Citizens, Leaders of Ayodhya see your Coronation and your dazzling like the Sun with 1000 Rays in the Lion bedded Throne; feasting their Eyes on your rule and enjoy the same .May the Majestic Elephants go behind you Trumphetting. May the Ladies of Queen chambers prepare all sorts of sweets and serve you. “ whilst thus Bharatha spoke and requested Rama , the Citizens cried out in ovation ’Good Good’ and appreciated Bharatha.
Seeing the great famed Bharatha lamenting like this the Great Rama who has won over his senses thought “ Bharatha is bereaving that I am not accepting his request. Also he thinks he alone is responsible for my being driven out to the Forest and he is all responsible for Dasaratha’s demise, he is accusing himself, so first I have to pacify and remove his agony’thus he decided. Rama spoke “ Child ! you think that because Kayikyei instigated ,our Father drove me to the Forest, for that She was not responsible; you are not responsible; God is only responsible. No one can behave the way he wants. God only pulls/lures theJeevan(Living person) which does not have freedom, to different places. If you think of the nature of the Materials we cannot stop any of it’s qualities/ intricacies.Hence our grieving over our Father’s death is not good. Even if you accumulate wealth boundlessly some day it has to be destroyed.Either a Lady, Thief or King becomes responsible for this act. Even the Noblest Brahma and Indra, once their Times for Authority is over are removed from their post.Being together with Daughter, Son and Children is only to get separated from them some day or other, there Is no other way to it.However Noble the Jeevan be the Life will one day be over When Death comes. So our Father died as the Time was over. Who can stop that? What is the use of your grieving for it?
I told you that I was sent to Forest and Father Died both because of Divine dispensation,to grieve for both is wrong. The ripe fruits have no fear other than falling from the Tress. Similarly Man who is Born is not afraid of anything other than Death. Initially the bulding is strong with Walls strong and supportive Pillars, subsequently it decays and the building falls one by one ; Human is afflicted by Old age, disease, death and cries. Will the night gone return? Yamuna’s water after falling in the Ocean will it return ? For all creatures the Day and Night comes alternately. Just like the Sun during summer makes the water droplets evaporate, similarly the days by gone reduces one’s Life span. If you stand still or walk will your Life span remain constant? Hence you have to worry about yourself and what is the justification for worrying about others? Can we discard Death? It is constantly walking with us, sitting in front of us, it travels far and returns with us, but the Age is increasing, The Blood is reducing in our body, the skin compresses and you get folds,. Hair greys, Due to Old age we are slowly but steadily decaying, The Human by doing what can he save himself and not controlled from this natural process? When Sun rises we become happy that it is time to earn money. When Sun sets we feel happy that the time is nearing to have conjugal sensual pleasures.Like the water stored in apot with a hole which gets leaked; we do not notice /realize that one day is gone/reduced from our Life.
So in young age it self you should learn and Earn the AtmaGyana(Wisdom about the Soul). But we due to ignorance (Avivekam) fail to do so. We do not search for the Means for achieving Happiness after Life. Every season when it comes we think of the enjoyment attached to it,that it will bring; but we do not think about the reduction caused to our Life span by that Season. People who have come together have to separate is it not important? Is it not justified? In the Ocean 2 pieces of wood have come together by the waves from different places for a short while. The those waves separate them and take them far away. Thereafter they never unite. **( Only way for them to Unite later is to surrender total Charanagathi to God and rejoin in God’s feet )Similarly Wife, Children ,Relations Wealth stay with us for some time and going separate is normal. These are destructible. In this world No creature can be with it’s relations & stay for ever. So Pitying the death of someone and grieving person can he stop that? Many join together to go to a Place. On the waysome one say ‘ I will also join you’ and follows us. Similarly we should go in the path our Father and grand parents went. We cannot escape same. What is purpose of grieving over some one’s death for too long?In the River water falls as small drops and is not visible to us anymore. Similarly our Life is getting reduced every Kshanam (4 Seconds -time taken to inhale and exhalewhich we do 21,600 times daily). We know fully well that that Time will never come back. Then what should we do? We should earn the Dharma which is eternal and un comparable and which will give Sukham in outer world after Life.**(As Paramacharyal says Dharma/ Dhanam is the only currency that is in usage after Life after Death). The Sukam achieved through Dharma is the permanent Sukham.
Our Father Emperor Dasaratha was a Dahrmathma; Immeasurable wealth was spent by giving enormous Dakshina(Fees) for conducting and did all Yaagas (Different Sacrifices by invoking God’s for common good of the world- There are many varieties of Yagaas leading to various types of benefits.).He is now devoid of Sins and is Living in Heaven. Since he took care of those who served him,and ruled over his Subjects in a righteous Manner(Dharmic way) and took revenue from subjects ,which were not in unjust manner, our Father reached Heaven(Swargham). He did what he felt was good for the country and also those his subjects desired by Building roads, digging wells, Lakes, built Temples, plnated nurtured Gorves, these creations helped our Father reach Heaven (Swargham). He enjoyed all types of Luxuries, comforts, fun and Joy and Lived complete Life of 60,000 years **(Even Rama lived for 11,000 years) and our Father is in Swargham(Heaven). When there is nothing else left over for our Father to fulfill and in the Time evolution he has gone to Swargham(Heaven) there is nothing justifiable to grieve for him. He has discarded the decayed human body and attained the Divine Body power (Divyadeha Bhalam) with Wisdom(Gyana) and dazzling aura (Kanthi) and is immersed in Bliss. Will any intelligent man repent/ grieve for such a Person? You are extremely intelligent, learned scholar of Saashtras, you have also learned from Listening to Elders, , now your remoresing is not correct, our Father’s death, my coming to Forest thinking about them a lot and lamentting over them is not worthy of an intelligent man.Hence do not worry; Leave grieving, return to Ayodhya; accept the Kingdom and Govern it; You are an orator, hence you will give very many reasons, still you have to obey as per Our Father’s order is also your duty. You need not ever think that he lost control over his senses and did like that in Agyaanam (ignorance and partial in his affection for some one). I will also perform to the best extent possible that great Holy man’s order to me, of spending time in Forest. He is our Father, our relation, he is our Guru; is it proper to ignore his order? is it justifiable? Let me follow the Dahrmathma’s word and I will live in this Forest. If one wants to attain best possible in salvation in outer world, in this world one should follow elders conduct, and earn Dharma; then there is no other better way. Please think over , consider our Father’s conduct and then rule the Kingdom which has been conferred on you. “ thus Rama said in many words conveying various meanings, thus explained the Pitrhuvaakya Paripaalanaam (Implementing Father’s wish/pledge)Dharma and warned Bharatha to obey and rule, and kept silent for 1 ½ hours. (Slokas 46).
