Indrajith Loses Chariot
The two of them Like Rogue Elephants deciding to kill each other with Pride on the increase,Vibheeshana came to witness this Battle Royal bent his bows and tormented Rakshasaas. Like earlier times because of Vajhrayudha the Mountains broke and they lost their Wings, they tore the Rakshasaas bodies. His Ministers with Sword, Trident and other weapons sheared the Rakshasaa warriors to Death.Surrounded by them Vibheeshana looked like the leader Elephant amongst Elephants. (Vibheeshana came to witness the Battle. Then he also felt he should participate in the battle. In order to know who is stronger he kept quite for some time. When he knew both were equally strong, he wanted to do some service to Rama and thus participated in the battle.) That Lord of Rakshasaas who was a good orator in order to motivate Vanaras saw this was an opportune moment said “For Ravana at this juncture does not have any one powerful than this Indrajith. Apart from this he doesnot have any Army as well; Why are you keeping quiet? If he dies please know for certain that except Ravana all others are dead. Prahastha, Nikumbha, Kumbha, Kumbhakaran, Dhoomraksha, Somharaathi, Vikata, Nigna, Dapana, Adhama, Prakasa, Jhanga, Prajhanga , Agnikethu, Reshmikethu, Vidhyuthjihvaa, Dwijhahvaa, Suryashatru, Akampana, Subharshva, Chakramaali, Jhambhumaali, Mahamaali, Agni prabha, Supathgana, Yagnyagopa, Vajhradhamshtra, Kampana, Devanthaka, Naranthaka, are these warriors ordinary? Instrength, Vigour, Valourous Courage, Valiant Prowess, the capability and deftness in handling Asthra & Sashthra (Weapons Systems, Missiles, including conventional weapons) are there any one akin to them? Haven’t we fought them all and killed them all? All of you have crossed the Giant Sea why the hesitation to cross this stream? There is non else to win over other than these Rakshasaas. Have all those who came with Prideful arrogance were they allowed to go back? To Indrajith I am his Chacha (Father’s younger brother); my killing him is not correct. Even then for sake of Rama I will leave my sympathy and kill my Brother’s son. Even if my Concience permits, Tears in my Eyes is Stopping it. Hence the great Lakshmana warrior will control him. May Vanaras kill those servants around him” thus motivated by Vibheeshana Vanara Warriors happily screeched swirled their Tails. Like the Peacocks on sighting the Rain bearing clouds dance similarly the Vanaras patting their shoulders, hands, screeched and swirled their Tails and hit them in the ground.
Jhambhavaan who was in the midst of the Vanaras with boulders, Nails, Teeth, killed the Rakshasaas. They fearlessly surrounded him and and hit him with sharp Bhanas. In earlier times, Deva AsuraYudahm (Epic War between Celestials and Demons) similarly the Vanara Rakshsaas challenged each other and fought. At that juncture Anjhaneya Plucked a huge Aacha tree and hit and killed many Rakshasaas.
Indrajith for some short time fought with his uncle Vibheeshana. Then he challenged Lakshmana. Due to the Arrows shot by them as though like a rain of pouring Arrows due to the Arrow Hut created, they both were not visible. Before Monsoon like the Sun & Moon are covered by the clouds They were taking the Arrow from Quiver, mounting it on string, pulling the strings upto ear and Launching, catching the Bhanas, Aiming, shooting straght slanting, from RHS(right ahnd side) & LHS Left hand side these were done so swiftly and deftly in such a pace it was not visible to the normal Eye. These Arrows jamboree covers the Sky. It was not clear if Indrajith was hitting Lakshmana at all or vice versa Lakshmana was hitting Indrajith was not visible to the on lookers as it was in such a fast pace they were launching the Bhanas. With no space the Arrows were traversing that the Sky became Dark. Even the Directions were full of Arrows thus one could not fathom the directions as well. All Materials were in utter Darkness. It was asthough Sun had set and there was Little Visibility and Blood streams were flowing in many ways. Cruel Rakshasaas were roaring menacingly. There was no Air blowing, Agni (Fire was not bright) Great Sages prayed for the welfare of all Living beings. Gandharvas and Charanas were afraid and left the place.
Afterwards Lakshmana killed the 4 Horses in the Chariot with Bhanas. He chose another Bhana carefully, pulled the strings upto his Ear He launched it on Indrajith’s Charioteer that sheared off his Head. Even then Indrajith was not perturbed, he was riding the Horses and was fighting the Battle. Every one was amazed at his skill. While he was riding the Chariot Lakshmana hit him with Bhaanas. Lakshmana with deftness blinded Indrajith and his horses. As it is having lost his Charioteer Indrajith lost his enthusiasm to fight the battle and lost Heart. Noticing that the Vanara Leaders cheered Laskhmana. Then Pramadhi, Sarabha, Rhabasa Gandhamadha got Jealous & mounted on those horses, unable to bear their weight, those Horses bled from their Mouth, Ears, Eyes , with Bones broken, fell dead on the ground. Having successfully destroyed the Horses and then Chariot they jumped and came returned near Lakshmana. Indrajith too jumped out of the same, he harassed Lakshmana with incessant Arrows. Lakshmana who too like Devendra stopped Indrajith with Arrows. (Slokas 51)
