Rama Kills Thirichiras
Seeing that General Thrichiras came running to Kara and said - “Lord! do not have this adamancy. When I am there why should you worry? Please send me. I will kill this Rama in few seconds. Whether I am his death or Rama is my death is decided I will not return. I am swearing on my weapons. For a short while be a witness and enjoy the fun. If Rama gets killed you can return to Your Jhanasthanam. If I die battle it out with Rama” said Thirichiras.
Since time has come Thirichiras invited his own death and spoke like that. “Go battle and win and come” Kara said to him. He in Chariot having 3 peaks in his massive Chariot with earth trembling was going towars his enemy. Rama saw him coming with Like the Dark clouds pouring Rain and clasping thunderous roar and showering weapons, Rama stopped that.
Then a Fierce battle ensured between Rama and Thirichiras
**( it is admirable even amongst the most cruel wicked there were ethics of War. Kara did not join attack on Rama).
Both were Strongmen; Both were Like Huge Elephant and Lion; Thirichiras hit Rama on his forehead with 3 Arrows. He got terribly enraged and shouted ‘You are a Rakshasaa Warrior, is that all the Strength you have? Did you worship me with 3 Flowers like Arrows? See the Bhanams (Arrows fitted with Feathers) I am sending’ thus terrified him, with 14 Bhanams (Arrows fitted with Feathers) which were like Deathly Serpents he drilled hole on his Chest, his 4 Bhanams (Arrows fitted with Feathers) killed his Horses, 8 Bhanams (Arrows fitted with Feathers) Charioteer, and single Arrow destroyed his Flag. Immediately Thirichiras jumped from the chariot. Rama again with sharp Arrows pierced his Chest; he was spell bound and stood there; with 3 Bhanams (Arrows fitted with Feathers) he severed his Heads. He coughed out Blood and fell on the ground and Died. His Rakshasaa who accompanied him ran away like Deers when they see a Tiger Leaving no trace.
Seeing this Kara got angry turned them to Rama and like Rahu swallows Moon (Lunar Eclipse), he came pouncing on Rama. (Slokas 20)
