Jataayu’s Vansha (Lineage)
There was an Eagle with Huge body and ominus to look at. On the way sitting on the Banayan tree and these people thought it might be a Rakshasaa and asked “Who are you?”. That with lot of affection in a sweet tone said “Child ! I am your father’s friend” -said Eagle. Rama bowed with reverence and asked its Lineage and Name.That Bird started telling about the origin of all the elements and its own Lineage / Dynasty in chronological order”. Earlier times there were Prajapathis (Lord of Living beings) named Karthama, Vishrudhar, Sesha, Samshraya, Sthanu, Marichi, Athri, Krathu, Pulasthya, Angirasa, Prachaythas, Pulaha, Daksha, Vivaswan, Kashyap. Dhaksha had 60 daughters. Kashyapa married 8 of them named Adithi, Dhithi, Dahnu, Kalikai, Thaamrai, Krodhavasai, Manu and Anilai. Kashyapa ordered them to “produce the 3 Worlds (Earth, Heaven and Pataal (beneath Earth), and they got sons who guarded the 8 directions”. Amongst them Adithi, Dithi, Kalikai, Manu agreed. Others refused. Adithi got 12 Adithyas,+ 8 Vasus,+ 11 Rudras,+ 2 Ashwini Devas.= 33 @each 1 Croere totals 33 Crore Devas Dithi got Dhaithyas, those Famous sons ruled this world in the beginning. Dhanu got a Dahanava (Rakshasaa) named Ashwagreeva. Nalaka, Kaalaka were born to Kalikai. Thamrai got 5 daughters namely Crownchi, Bhasi, Syeni, Dhridharastri & Suki.Crownchi gave Owls and Bhasi gave Chicken, Seyni gave Eagels and bustards, Dhirudratashtri gave Swans, Kalaswans, Chakravaha, Suki gave birth Nathai & Vinathai. Mrigi gave birth to daughters mrigamnathahari and Bhadramatha, Matangi, Chaardhooli, Sweytha, Surabhi, Surasa, Kathruka were born to Krodhavasai.Mrigi gave Deers and Mriigamantha gave Bears, Safron giving Deers, Chamara animals. Hari gave Lions, monkeys. Bhadra gave the Eravatha Elephants, her son Ayiravatha Elephant is world famous. Mathangi gave elephants. Chardhooli gave Tigers and Long tailed Monkeys. Swaytha gave Dik elephants. Surabhi gave Rohini and Gandharvi. Rohini gave Cows. Gandarvi gave Horses. Suras gave many hooded Snakes, Kathru gave ordinary sankes, Manu gave Humans ie Brahimns, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and others. Analai gave birth to trees with tasty Fruits, Kathru gave 1000 hood Serpant Adhisesha who carries this Earth on its head. Vinathai gave Garuda and Aruna. Aruna and Seyni together produced Sampathi and Jatayu. In this forest wild animals and Rakshasaas are more here. So if you go for hunting I will guard Sita’- Said Jatayu.
Hearing that Rama very endearingly hugged Jatayu, being his Father’s friend gave special respects for him. Then praying to Jatayu to protect Sita they entered the forest like the Fire which destroys the Fire moths, they had set their mind to elelminate Rakshasaas and went towards Panchavati. (Slokas 35).
