Surpanaka Visits
Then they return to their Hermitage and after completing their daily rituals, and worshipped by Saints in the Parnashala was chatting on different matters. At that time Sita came like the Full Moon in Chithra star along with Rama and were seated there as a Rakshasi came uninvited. She is Ravana’s sister; her name is Surpanaka. Rama and Lakshmana who have the chest of Lion, the arms stetching upto knees, the walking gait of a Rogue Elephant, has eyes of the Lotus Flower petals, the body with the lusture of Black neithal flower, with Matted Hair, with Royal features, saw Rama who was seated. He was more handsome than even Manmadhan (God of Love), having Tejhas ( whose effervescence was Dazzling in all directions with Limitless Aura) which will put to shame millions of Sunrays, with Radiance of face belittling the Moon, with PARAKRAM (Achievement, Might , Puissance, Exploits,Valor, Heroism, Gallantry, Prowess, Ability, Valour) which even Indra (God of celestials) can think of, Surpanaka became his slave and lost her heart out to him.
Rama has the face of all Uthama Gunangal (Noblest Virtues); Surpanaka has the scary face. Rama has the waist line which is small like Lion;Vs Huge Drum like stomach that Rakshasai Surpanaka has. Rama has Eyes that of Blossomed Red Lotus Flower Petals Vs Surapanaka has scary looking eyes. Rama has dark, thick, curly Hair;Vs Surpanaka has hair which is like Red inferno small and short. Those who see Rama will devolop instant limitless affinity ;Vs those who see Surpanaka will get hatred. When Rama speaks it will be like melodious tune coming from an instrument; Vs Surpanaka’s speech will make the listener faint. Rama is young handsome man;Vs Surpanaka is very old, Rama speaks softly and Cleverly;Vs Surpanaka speaks Kapat (deception, fraud, cheat, cunning). Rama behaves justifiably; Vs Surpanaka is of bad repute. Rama is the 1st amongst Handsome;Vs Surpanaka is 1st amongst Cruelest.
Oh she blindly fell in Love spoke “You are wearing the Matted hair in the Garb of Thapasvi (Saintly mendicant) and having Bow and Arrows with your wife, what is the reason for your coming here? Don’t you know in this place Rakshasaas Live?” asked Surpanaka.
Rama is of extreme Valour; he is Dharmic in intellect ; he never likes to utter a Lie any day ; Further when he is in Thapasvi dress can he afford to ignore his values? Further would he like to tell a Lie to a Lady? Hence looking at Surpanaka “there was an Emperor who was equal in valour to Devendra (God of Celestials) named Dasaratha. I am his eldest son Rama. He is my brother Lakshmana. He has come with me to Forest. She is my Wife Sita. She is the daughter of King of Videha. We have come here due to the order of our parents to this forest and doing Pithru Vaakhya paripalanam (Implementing and Fulfilling Father’s words) and have come to earn Dharma and Living here. Who are you? Whom are you affiliated to ? Seeing your Vikara (ugly, revolting body shapes, scary, threatening, uncouth, cruel disguises / postures) form makes us fell that you are a Rakshasi. What was the reason you came here? Tell the Truth” - said Rama. Surpanaka overcome by Lust said “I am Surpanaka the Rakshasi; I can take the disguise I want; I am wandering in this Forest alone. All the Animals are scared of seeing me. I have the ability to destroy which obstructs my thoughts. The Lord of Rakshasaas Ravana Eshwara who is strong, is my brother. He is the son of Vishrawas, Haven’t you heard that he is a great warrior? Person who sleeps for long who has immense strength Kumbhakarna; even though born in Rakshasaa Lineage and not following Rakshasa behaviour but Dharmathama is Vibheeshana - these 2 are also were born with me. Kara, Dhooshana who are famous for their Victorious battles are also my brothers. But I am not bound by their words. I will go by my wishes. After seeing you I want to make you my husband and I have come with that in Mind. I have very rare Powers. None can stop me. After getting you as my husband I will live comfortably for a long time. What is the use of this Sita? What will you do with this meager little thing who has no energy? I am your suitable wife. See her small frame and my body equivalent to the Meru Mountain. She is afraid of all Animals; all Animals are afraid of me. She has a Stomach which is thin; I have a waist like a huge Drum, can she ever match me in beauty? Look at me intensely. Am I suitable or is Sita suitable? The two who are obstructing both of us that is Sita and Lakshmana I will eat them immediately. Thereafter we will roam around Mountain peaks and and Forest and we will travel together and be happy. (Slokas 31).
