Ravana come to know of killing of Rakshasaas
Preface :
Srimad Ramayna is the exposition of Charanagathi Philosophy. Charanagathi means Last resort is to fall at God's Feet shedding one’s Ego, Anger, Attachment, Desire, Intelligence and seek his guidance, for he knows what is in store for us. Those who understand the poorva kandham’s meaning and Uthra Kandham’s meaning and the purpose they can convey or preach or sermonize same. Only when you understand a matter you have a desire. So far the meaning of uthrakandham has been described. The 1st phrase of the Uthrakandam meaning is the coming together of Rama (Lord of Universe) and Sita (Universal Mother) in the Bala Kandam; 2nd phrase Meaning is the God’s (Rama’s) Noblest Virtues in all speheres of Life (During Good & Bad times) in Ayodhya Kandam; and the Service of / by the Lord in Aaranyakandam till Suprpanaka’ story; the end of Manthra (Verse) ie Destruction of Enemy, killing of Kara has been elucidated. The 1st part of Manthra (Verse) is being elucidated hereafter. 2nd stanzas meaning is Bhaktha Vaathsalyam (Merciful affection to Devotees) in KishkindaKandham; 3rd stanza of Greatness & speciality of God’s Form is elucidated in SundaraKandham; the 4th stanza is exemplified in Charangathi Philosophy in Yudha Kandam; Having attained the Charanagathi the Aacharam (Respectful behaviour, Courteous, Humble, clean, pure in thought action and deed) one should observe is detailed in Uthara Kandam. As Devas (Celestials) Devathas (Deities / Lords of Celestials) did Charanagathi resulted in God being born with his wife in this world as Rama & Sita to slay Ravana; The Charanagathi by Saints / Sages led to decimation of Rakshasaas in Dhandakaaranya has been told. These are all in between happenings. The main reason for Ravana’s killing - that is abduction of Sita - will be told hereafter.
Then the Ralkshasaa Akampa escaped from the Battle went very quickly to Lanka and with humility met Ravana and said “Lord! In the Jhanasthana the great warriors Kara, Dhooshana including Tirichiras all the Rakshasaas have been killed in the battle. Only myself (in the Disguse of a Lady) escaped the Rama Bhana (Arrow fitted with Feather)” yelled Akampana. Hearing that Ravana’s Fiery eye became more reddish, with cruel sight as though he is going to burn the world “Who destroyed my beautiful Jhanasthana?” Who is that person, who cannot seek refuge with any creatrues, wants to fall in the Fire of my Anger and Die? By doing an act which does not please me will Indra (Lord of Celestials), Kubhera or Vishnu will they be happy? Iam the Yama of Yama (who takes away the Dead ie God of Death) Agni(Fire)’s Agni: Death’s Death (Mrithyu); if I get Angry even if Sun & Fire join together then I can alight them on Fire.i will stop the speed of (Vayu) Wind” thus proclaimed Ravana in rage.
Seeing the Ravana enraged Akampa was trembling and in stuttering Voice with folded hands “ Lord! if you give me shelter then I will tell the Truth” said Akampa. Ravana assured him, then Akampa was encouraged and spoke “Hey Greatest King! Emperor Dasaratah has a son named Rama. He is matchlessly handsome in all parts of the Body: he is Young; He has the broad shoulders like Grown Oxen’s shoulder; Long well built Arms; Great Warrior, great Famed one; he is embodiment of all Wealth; he is of matchless Strong PARAKRAM (Achievement, Might, Puissance, Exploits, Valor, Heroism, Gallantry, Prowess, Ability, Valour). He is the one who destroyed the Rakshasaas and Kara Dhooshana in Jhanasthana” - Described Akampana.
Hearing the same Ravana hissed like a huge Serpent “Akampana ! Has Rama come with the assistance of Indra and other Celestials?”queried Ravana. Then Akampana started describing Rama’s strength and Parakrama (Valour). “Lord ! Rama is of boundless Tejhas whose effervescence was Dazzling in all directions with Limitless Aura, he is greatest amongst Archers; He has learnt Divine Missiles and has earned special Powers and Repute; in battle even Devendra (Lord of Celestail) is not equal; He has one younger brother. He is equal to Rama in strength and Prarakrama; he has Red Eyes and Voice rich like the Beri Drum and face like the Cosmos of Moon. They both are like devastating Fire and typhoon like Air joined together. That Rama decimated Jhanasthana. He does not need any help from others. You need not think that Devas (Celestails) helped him. The Bhanams emanating from his Kothanda (Bow) are like shining Golden plates tied together. They like the Great Serpents swallowed the Rakshasaas Life playfully. Rakshasaas were scared and wherever they went saw Rama only. Which ever materials they tried to hide, Rama was there before them. Great King, I told you how the Jhansthana was destroyed” - Completed Akampana. Ravana “now itself I will go and kill those Rama Lakshmana” saying this he started.
Then Akampana said “Lord! please accept my findings on Rama. I will describe the Prowess, awesome exploits and capabilities of Rama to the extent I know. If he gets angry Brahma and Indra cannot oppose him. He is known as the Greatest warrior in all 3 worlds and is famous. He can stop the full flowing River in spate with his Bhanas. He can shatter the Planets, the stars and other Cosmos. He can explode the Galaxy as well. He can bring back the Earth which is sinking in the Ocean to the top. He can make the oceans to break the shores and make the earth sink in its deluge. He can stop the speed of the tides / ocean with his Arrows. He can make the 5 elements to immerse / merge in another and bring in Deluge. Thus Limitless power and all the wealth & all those places reside in Rama. At mere thoughT he can destroy and recreate the Earth. (Akampana’s description depict Vishnu’s Dsavathar 10 incarnations those which happened and those going to happen). You have 10 heads and others do not have is the pride you have. Rama has countless hands, heads, eyes, and standing inside and outside the Universe and is standing everywhere. Can Mosquitoe be equal to Maha Meru Mountian? You have limited Power can you win over Rama who has al the Power? Namuchi, Hiranyakashipu, Mahabhali, Sambhara, Hirnayaksha, Sumaali, Malyavaan, have got halted and ran haven’t you heard that? ‘Even if all of them are united, Rama cannot be defeated’. If all the Sinners join to gether can they reach heaven? If that be so. If crores and crores of Blind men join together can they reach heaven? ‘If you say that ‘Celestials have been won over by Indrajith will they not help me? ‘I know for sure even if Devas (Celestials) and Asuraas also join together, then also Rama can not be won over.‘{ Even though Akmpana is now born as Rakshasaa, due to earlier birth Punya he is able to perceive the Greatness of Rama ; and informing Ravana keeping Ravana’s well being in mind or Valmiki is conveying Rama’s greatness to Ravana through Akampana. Say the exponents on Ramayana}.
“Still, I will tell a way out, please Listen patiently. He has a wife named Sita; she is young; her Limbs are as per features which are Noble in Virtues; She is Gem amongst the Ladies; she is adorned by all the Ornaments and is exquisitely dressed; there is none to match her Beauty in any of the Celestial, Dhanav (Demon), Ghandarva (Musicians), Apsaras, worlds, Why talk of humans? By any means you cheat Rama and bring her by Lifting her. Since she is his Life, on separation, he will lay down his Life. Ravana accepted this suggestion, and thought for a long time as to how to separate Sita from Rama and bring her here and said “Akampana ! Tomorrow morning I will go alone and and somehow Lift Janaki (Sita) and bring her here” said Ravana.
Then Ravana got into the Chariot shining like the Sun & which were tied with Yaks/Mules ; like the Moon travels between the clouds, through Sky travelled very fast , went to Thataka’s son Mareecha’s Ashrama. Mareecha greeted him with very special and rare gifts seated him. He enquired welfare “Hey Lord of Rakshasaas! Are your subjects safe? Unless there is a major task, you would not come alone and that too so fast. Hence some shortcoming must have happened in your comfort. It is not clear what is it?” said Mareecha. Ravana said “Mareecha! In Jhanasthana for border security Kara and his troops who were placed someone named Rama has killed them all in a Battle. Hence in reciprocation, please tell me a way to lift his wife and bring Her here” - asked Ravana.
Mareecha “Oh My! Who is that someone who calls himself your Friend but is really your Sworn Enemy has instigated you to bring Sita? Is any one there who has been ignored by you some time and jealous of your welath and authority has rendered this suggestion to you? Who is the person who thought of destroying the Rakshasaa Dynasty’s Fame and Pride? ‘You go and Bring Sita’ fellow who uttered this is your Enemy do you have any doubt on that? Who is the person who instigated you to put your hand in the mouth and extract its teeth of the most Venomous snake? Who is he who is pushing you in wrong path and wants to eliminate you from the roots? Who is the person who disturbed you when you were sleeping comfortably and instigating you unnecessarily?
When the Elephants smell the Ghandhahasthi Elephant’s odour they run away. Rama is like that Elephant; he being born in the Great Ikshwaku Dynasty is his Trunk ; his Thejas (Aura) is the Rougue liquid coming from its Ears ; His Long Arms are its Tusks; Can you even set your eyes on him in the Batlle field? Amongst Humans Rama is Lion; In the Battle field Like Maha Meru mountain unshakeable are his Hairy Legs; Great Warrior Rakshasaas are the Deers who have been slain in the battle by it; the Arrows are its Limbs; Sharp Swords are its teeth; When it is sleeping without disturbing any one, do not wake it up. If you Face a Lion, by divine providence or By Concentrating on its Eyes you may escape and return. If you wage a Battle with Rama I do not have that desire also. Rama is like a bottomless pit; His Kothanda (Bow) is the moving dangerous Crocodile there; the speed of his shooting Arrows is the quick sand there ; those get stuck never come out. The Arrows are the unabated waves; they will destroy any one. Battle is the Ocean’s water. No one has crossed it. Will any one and go and fall into that bottomless pit? Lankesh! The Jewel of the Rakshasaas, have mercy; leave your hatred; please return to Lanka. Stay with Wives in Sukham (Comfort, Luxury, Joy, Fun, Cheer, Love, Affection and fulfilled Desires)“ - thus counseled Mareecha. Ravan too accepted same took leave of Mareecha and returned to Lanka.
