Vibheeshana’s Sane Advice
After hearing Ravana’s and Kumbhakaran’s boasting, Vibheeshana decided to inject some Sanity and spoke endearingly with specially Loaded meaning. 1.“Sita is like the Great Serpent. Her breasts are it’s Hood; the mere thought of her,2. is the deadly poison which kills instantly; her betwitching 3.smile, is the Venonmous teeth which will destroy the Manam { Chitha (Memory) + Inner Conscience Mind + Intellect (Bhuddhi) +Ego} Of those who look at her with Lustful eyes; when she is worried the hand with 5 Fingers on which her chin rest are the 5 4.Heads of the Serpent; The Serpent which has big body need not bite; 5.mere touch will ensure death. Why did it occur to your intellect to Forcibly bring her here? Now itself go and return her to Rama. The Vanaras having bodies Like the Moutain peaks and with Gory Teeth, Nails before they land in Lanka, please go and return Sita to Rama. Before Rama’s bhanas (Arrows with feather) with the speed of Wind come and severe the Great Rakshasaas heads please go and return Sita to Rama. Hey! Prahastha! The pointed Arrows of Rama will come like Thunder and expode and tear your body till then you will be boasting unnecessarily. Hey Wicked Minded! Can Kumbhakarna, Indrajith, Nikhumbha, Kumbha, Athikaya can they face Raghava (Rama) in battle field? Anna! Though you are guarded by the entourages of Adithya and Maruts and Devendra and indra keep you in their Lap like their Son and protect you, or hide you in Sky or hide you in Pathaal (beneath Earth) will Rama spare without taking the Life?” said Vibheeshana.
Then Prahastha got up and said “We have no fear whatsoever from Devas (Celestials), Dhanav (Demon), Gandharva (Musicians), Uraga (Fortune telling angels) and Garuda (Eagles) and their entourages. When that be so Rama after all is an insignificant Human; Kshatriya (Warrior) Boy; due to him no imminent Danger will befall us” Said Praahstha.
Vibheeshana whose intellect would always seek Purusharthas {(1) Dharma-Righteous conduct- Duty- Pious- humble-Charity -being Noble (2) Material-money, (3) Desire-ambition-Children,(4) Moksha-Attain God’s feet} wanted the well being of Ravana; Very intelligent. “Hey! Prahstha! Will anyone who is only Focussed on Adharma get Heaven? You, King, Kumbhakarna, Mahodhara the Alochanai (Cosult, Counsel, Reflect, Think, Suggestion) for Rama won’t be beneficial. Person who does not have Boat can he cross the Ocean? Rama who is adept in all matters if You, myself and all the Rakshasaas unite can he be killed? Even if Rama loses all Purusharthas {(1) Dharma-Righteous conduct- Duty- Pious- humble-Charity -being Noble (2) Material-money,(3) Desire-ambition-Children,(4) Moksha-Attain God’s feet} he will not give up Dharma. He is a Great warrior who can protect himself and His Charioteer who can destroy the Enemy’s Army. He has matchless PARAKRAM (Achievement, Might, Puissance, Exploits, Valor, Heroism, Gallantry, Prowess, Ability, Valour) as his in born nature having been born in Ikshwaku Dynasty. He who satisfies all his subjects. Having killed Great warriors Like Viradha, Kabhanda, Vali his ability is well known all over the World. Even Celestials do not know his path; of all would you know? Pointed Arrows with curved grips decorated with Eagle feathers to ensure accuracy which is unstoppable by others until they come and slit open your Body you will continue to Boast like this. Can Ravana, Athibhala, Kumbhakarna or you can stop Rama who is equal to Indra in the battle field? Devanthaka, Naranthaka or the big bodied Athikaya or Akampa who has the strength of Mountain can they oppose Rama? Our King is immersed in materialistic pleasures; by nature is cruel; he does carry out activites without thinking; You may appear as his Friends actually you all are his sworn enemies by your conduct. Foregetting his above shortcomings, with his cruel nature in mind you have been speaking as per his desire, you have all come here to destroy all the Rakshasaas. A giant Serpent with 1000 heads and immense Strength has cirled your King. Before the enmity with Rama makes this Serpent swallows, you have to detach him from this serpent. Time has already elapsed. We should not keep quite ‘what can be done? ‘Due to him all of you have enjoyed his generosity by way of Comfort, Rewards, Fame. By foregoing your Life, you should protect him. Like one’s friends help in retrieving a person caught by a Ominous Strong Ghost by any means, if it is true you’re his friends unite, with single minded devotion, forcibly if need be clutching his Hair wean him away from Adharma and save him.The Ocean called Lakshmana is waiting to destroy him. Before he is caught by it’s speed and fall in the mouth of Volcano called Rama all of you jointly give him a hand and drag him ashore (Meaning hurt 1st by Lakshmana and then killed by Rama is the meaning of this).
I am going to tell the words which will confer the noblest Blessings to Lanka, our King, his friends. Even though it may not be acceptable to him, let us all unite and forcibly go and hand over sita to Rama. If you ask “Our suggestion that we have to kill King’s Enemies, is it not in his interest? “What should the ideal Minister do? He should weigh Enemies Vitality & Wealth Like wise our King’s as well. Similarly Alochanai (Cosult, Counsel, Reflect, Think, Suggestion) of the growth and Degowth prospects of both. When Eenmy’s Dasa (Planetary Position) is in weak postion, and our King’s Dasa is In strong position then we should Launch our attack. If Shatru’s Dasa (Planetary Position) is in Strongpostion and our’s in weak then we should make a Freindship with thim. If both are equal we should not do anything. Now Rama’s Dasa (Planetary Position) is in ascending postion; knows about the place Sita is; his emissary came here without our knowledge thus heaped insult on us and completed his task, turned our city into Ash , had killed our warriors; countless Vanara Army is supporting Rama; he has reached the other Shore of the Sea; very soon he will cross it; Now it is his Victory time. Hence we should make Friendship with him and go and hand over Sita should be your wise counsel to our King.” Said Vibheeshana (Slokas22)
