Vibheeshana’s Service

As anticpated by Vibheeshana that Rama’s Shelter will confer on him No Fear from any Living Beings became worthy of Rama’s grace. Having heard about the Noble Virtupus traits of Rama gone multiplied Millions of times when he saw him physically and was immersed in his grace when he devotedly bowed to him.

Having taken the simple route devoid of dangers he inherited all Purusharthas {(1) Dharma - Righteous conduct - Duty- Pious- humble - Charity - being Noble (2) Material-money (3) Desire-ambition-Children (4) Moksha-Attain God’s feet} He now got the benefit of having Learnt Vedas and practiced them with dexterity and special Gyanam (Wisdom of Knowing the difference Atma (eternal) and the body(perishes)- Atma (Life force ) is the reflection of Paramthma(God) like water in Ocean, river, pond, tank, vessel and cup Is same .Atma takes the birth in different bodies as per karma) having blossomed in him. Rama’s confidential Ministers without any gap were surrounding him. Ministers who stood in front of Rama gave a palce amongst them. Noticing this Vibhheeshana from distance bowed to Rama and did Sashtanga Namaskaram (prostrating lying down) before God Rama full fledged where in 8 parts of a person’s body- palms of Hands clasped together above the head , forehead, nose, chest, thighs, knees touches the Earth, with toes lifted and Feet thumbs locked, Mind & Speech enraptured in God). And as there was no space in the Sky Lane, he jumped on the ground. Having obtained the Asylum from Rama still he had to pray is because, due to the effulgence of Rama’s Handsome Form, Physical feature, Virtuous Character being experienced and the Bliss caused his senses merged with Rama and only his mortal Body Bowed. This was not done anticipating any other benefit. Vibheeshana submitted himself to Rama’s Charanam (Refuge, Your Lotus Feet, Shelter, Help, Asylum, Support or all of these); due to the advantage of his Devotion his entourages also got the benefit. Elders say those who patronize Vishnu Bhakthas be it Humans, Cow, Birds, they also reach Vishnu’s Feet). So far he was singing with words, now with his body showing his devotion, the faulties like Doubt,Viparyayah (unreal cognition, indiscrimination, perverse cognition, wrong knowledge, misconception, incorrect knowing, not seeing clearly mithya , of the unreal, of the false, erroneous) illusory knowledge were removed now for Vibheeshana he realized that happenings were favourable to him, he came back to his original form, and decided that whatever be the circumstance he will not Leave the Discipline of Charanagathi (Last resort is to fall at God's Feet shedding one's Ego, Anger, Attachment , Desire, intelligence and seek his guidance, with the Faith that God knows what is in store for us). Vibheeshana had the unwavering Vishwas (Assurance, Reliance, Confidence, Belief, Loyalty, Faith, Dependence, Sureness, Trust,Credence of Rama’s immense Love) at all stages be it when Vanaras said ‘You should kill him, do not believe Vibheeshana’ or when Rama said ‘I will not forsake him, Bring him’ or when Sugreevas said ‘Let him also become part of us’ without any fear whatsoever. He sought Rama as his protector, believing in the implicit faith that Rama’s feet only tool which will help him cross this Materialistic world of Desires and it’s consequences of Joy & Sorrow. Like the infant Child Jumps on to it’s Mother Vibheehsana put his head on the Lotus Feet of Rama and did Namashkar.Those 4 accomplishes also did the same. (While he preached RavanaVibheeshana had the avowed Grit which was favourable to God, Since he was Soul ebeleiving Dharma ‘he did Charanama to RAMA with total faith in him that he will protect him which is 2nd stage of searching the God, entrusting himself to the savior Rama was the 3rd stage thus all the philophy of Charanagathy Philosophy were observed).

Thus having done Charanagathy physically, he did with his words.Sugreeva and others now had immense affinity unto him, What he had conveyed through Vanaras Vibheeshana was beseeching directly now.His words contained all the Limbs/parts of Charanagathi. Earlier when he had said ‘the enormous power Rama had to save him, and Largeness of Rama’s Mercy were mentioned infuriated Vanaras and others out of Jealousy or Fear for Rama’s safety, until Rama calrified his Unfathomable Compassion and Power subtly with examples of past’ now same Vanaras were orverwhelmed with Bliss and forgot their individually identity in the Aura of Rama’s grace.

I am Ravana’s younger brother; I have been insulted by him (he is submitting his meakness) If you say Ravana is also eligible for my Love, You are Protector of all Living Beings / Spirtis / Elements. You are the completeness of Gyanam (Wisdom of Knowing the difference Atma(eternal) and the body(perishes) - Atma(Life force ) is the reflection of Paramthma(God) like water in Ocean, river, pond, tank, vessel and cup Is same .Atma takes the birth in different bodies as per karma), Eternal Energy / Power full of Compassion of Auspicious Noblest Virtuous Character; hence I submit my self to Your Charanam (Refuge, Your Lotus Feet, Shelter, Help, Asylum, Support or all of these). My natural place of residence Lanka, Friends, and the wealth accrued due to them, the Kigdom and all he Materials that I desire, My Praanan (Life force, Last Breathe, that without which causes Physical and medical Death)and all the Sukham (Comfort, Luxury, Joy, Fun, Cheer, Love, Affection and fulfilled Desires) I am experiencing in this world or going to experience in the world after my Life, all are at your service. I do not expect anything else.

Thus shunning all the benefits and transferring all the burden on Rama and with total faith that serving Rama was the only benefit he will derive Rama said to Vibheeshana” Friend! the moment you uttered ‘I do Charanam to you’ I have to accept / approve it. Please forgive me for the dealy so far” thus Rama pacified him.Then Vibheeshana prayed “Lord! Please give me permission to serve you with my Body”,Rama replied ‘We will think about it later’. Now you serve with words. Please tell me the Phalaphalam (weighting consqeuences and Benefits) of Rakshasaas as it is (Since Rama said ‘Rakshsaas’ and not ‘Your Relations’ Rama had decided to equal status to Vibheeshana is the inference which will get confirmed later). For that Vibheeshana replied “Lord! Greatest amongst Kings! Ravana has been given boon by Brhama (God of Creation) that he does not face death from Gandahrva, Uraga, Rakshsaas. Elder to me but younger to Ravana is Kumbhakarna who is great Tejhas (whose effervescence Dazzlles in all directions with Limitless Aura); he Great Valiant; he is equal to Indra in battle.

Ravana is Generally known in battle field; in the war in Kailash with Kubhera he defeated his General Manibhadra. Ravana’s son Indrajith can shower Bhanas (Arrwoos with feathers) incessantly. No one can split open his shield in Chest. He satisfied Agni Lord by Homas, taking the Bow in hands in the Battle Field and satnding, after the Battle formation he has the ability to kill the Enemies wihtout being Visible to any one. Mahodhara, Mahapaarshva, Akampana generals in Battle field are equal to the Lords of various worlds. They can take any disguise at mere thought and have Meat, Blood as their food are in Lanka exceeding 10,000 Crores (100,000 times Million). Ravana went with them and fought with Loka Phalaks (Adminsitrators of worlds) in the Battle field and won over them. He also chased away those Deva (Celestial) entourages” said Vibheeshana.

Undettred Vapour of Prowess Rama heard what Vibheeshana said and thought actions to be taken and said “I have carefully noted the Rakshsaas Valour, Vitality & Achievements.I will kill Ravana, his Ministers, Realtions, Army in the war and install you as the King of Lanka by coronating you; please believe what I am saying is Sathyam (Eternal truth). Let Ravan hide in Rasathalam, Paathalam etc;

Let him go and surrender to Brahma (God of Creation) who granted him Boon; wherever he is I will not spare his Life; Ravana his Sons, Friends, Relations, Army without killing them in Battle, I will not enter Ayodhya. This I am swearing on the name of Brotehrs Lakshmana, Bharatha & Sahtrugna” said Rama.

The Kingdom with which he was vexed and knew is of no use and he had forsaken, Rama has now pledged to give it to me. The Rama Kayinkarya (service) which is the noblest way to salvation is all that he wanted, Vibheeshana did Namaskram to him. Rama is one who gives all the Auspicious Blessings to all the Living Beings and since he is knower of Charanagatha Dharma (An essential act of giving asylum to those seeking Shelter) and its greatness in completeness said “Lord! I will extend my maximum possible support in capturing Lanka and in its destruction. Till my last breath. Please grant permission to join you Army” Vibheeshana who had no longings except the Service to Rama, was happily hugged by Rama and said “unexpectedly some thing is coming in mid way please absorb it ,do not stall my ordain” thus saying Looking at Lakshmana “ Child ! please bring water from the sea! He is knower of Dasabhava (Servitude) to God and is great Gyani (Wisdom of Knowing the difference Atma (eternal) and the body (perishes) – Atma (Life force ) is the reflection of Paramthma (God) like water in Ocean, river, pond, tank, vessel and cup Is same. Atma takes the birth in different bodies as per karma) He did not seek least bit the Coronation ceremony. He has obtained my Love, hence due to my affection the boon I am granting him shouldn’t it give benefit? Hence very quickly Coronate him as the King of Lanka.” Said Rama.

As per the ordain Lakshmana brought the Sea water and surrounded by the senior Vanaras in presence of Vanara Army The Greatest Devotee called Vibheeshana Proclaimed him as the King of Lanka and did coronation.The Vanara Army saw the great Maganaimity of Rama to his Devotees and his Limitless Mercy and said ‘ Good Good’ in ovation.

(In presence of ‘Vanaras’ means the People were witness to the coronation ceremony, Vibheesahna later can’t stall it. Rama has to necessarily carry out the Pledge, it is as per ‘Rama’s ordain’ means it is the saviour’s order which can’t be rejected as per this just rule, Vibhheshana too accepted it.)

Then some other time when Hanuman, Sugreeva and Vibheeshana were alone asked “Friend! The place of residence of Varuna (God of water) and which can’t be crossed any one how can we cross this sea? If we alone are there, it is ok, but there are countless Army of Vanaras have to be taken to other side of the shore” said they. For that Vibheeshana said “Ragh Warrior should surrender to the King of Samudra (Ocean); with that as a reason, he will tell a asuitable way out. These Oceans have been dug up by the Sons of King Sagara of Ikshwaku Dynasty. So being his relation, he will defienitely extend help. He is not an ungrateful person.” The Sagacious Vibheeshana saying thus Sugreeva and Rama came and conveyed the information to Rama. By nature Rama is a Dhrama adherer so this was pelasant to him. Though he was capable of finishing the task single handedly, he decide to resoect the timely suggestion of Vibheeshana and looking at the Vanara King said ‘Sugreeva! Lakshmana! I like the idea of Vibheeshana.Sugreeva is a great intelligent; you are good at strategies. Both of you discuss and analyse and what you feel is Yuktham (appropriate, Strategically correct, the right approach to derive maximum benefit) do that”. They with folded hands said “Now we have no other go. The way suggested by Sugreeva is very easy an seems to give more comfort to us all.so it is also acceptable to us. Unless a Bridge is constructed across the sea, even Sura and Asuras can’t near Lanka. The Great Strategiist Vibheeshana’s words are simple and more soothing. Let us not delay and let us do it and You kindly Pray to the King of Ocean. There is no other means for our Army to reach Lanka.” Said they

Then in the sea shore Dharbai (Kushal Grass) were spread ad like the Agni (Fire) Dazzles in it, Rama Lay down on them. (Slokas 41)
