Surpanaka’s Pride sliced
Surpanaka had the eyes that was like the Reddish tinge Madhira alcohol, and was bound by the rope of greed spoke like this (ie she will eat Sita & Lakshmana who were impediment to Rama Surpanaka union) Rama with benign smile, softly, deftly, cleverly, clearly replied ‘I am already married. I have immense Affection for towards my wife. I cannot brush her aside. I cannot also have you as well. Ladies like you would not tolerate irritants from competing wife (southen). This brother who is there is of good conduct; he is very handsome. He has not brought his wife with him. He is a great warrior; for a long time he has not experienced the comfort of a wife; wife is essential for him. He is young man; he is compatible master for your beauty. If you get him as your Lord (husband) you can live with brightness that of Sun shine in Meru Mountain’ said Rama. Thus he deftly got rid of her as he felt she may be hurt if he outrightly rejected her, so he used the satirical words for communicating his un acceptance to her proposal. But that Rakshasi who was overcome with desire not realizing the fun intended words, thought it to be true, went to Lakshmana and said “I am the most worthy Heroine of You handsome man, we can wander and roam around this Dhandakaaranya freely” said Surpanaka. Lakshmana isn’t he articulate? With bewitching smile told her “think a while. I am slave for my brother; for Your status are you worthy of becoming a slave of another slave? Like I do serve him, will you also serve Sita? Rama who is filled with all the good fortunes, if you become his wife then your thoughts will meet their requirements. So you become his Young or 2nd wife and live comfortably. ‘WhenSita is there how would he approve me? One who has seen your beauty, will any intelligent man have the desire to cast his eye, after all on an ordinary human Lady? Sita is cruel, wicked, has very thin flat stomach; does any one know her name? He will shun her and will not look at another Lady’ said Lakshmana.
Not understanding this as ridiculous joke, Surpanaka went to Rama who was seated with Sita in Parnashala (house) “Sita is cruel, not famous, wicked, old, has flat stomach; instead of getting rid of this ailment you are still clinging on to her and weeping, this must be the only reason why you have not looked at me. As long as this (Sita) obstacle is there this thought / proposal will not be totally met. In your presence I will eat her and will live comfortably with you, without any hindrance of a competing wife” saying thus with eyes like a burning ember, like Dhoomaketu comes running after the beautiful Rohini; came running towards Sita in seething rage. Seeing this women pouncing on Sita who was looking askance that of a terrified Deer; this was akin to Yama (God of Death) who reins in the Rope of Death to take away every Living being ;
Rama scolded Surpanaka ‘hoom’ with anger said “Lakshmana ! it is a mistake to joke with Cruel, mean minded. Seeing the wicked behavior of Surpanaka, it appears Sita may die of fright. Severe the Limb of this Rakshasi of Dhust (Scoundrel, bad, wicked, cruel, cunning, rascal, Villainous, devil, evil, nasty heinious) nature”- ordered Rama. Immediatley Lakshmana was enraged, as Rama was making fun of her thinking ‘so far She has not shown wrong demeanour’. Now that Surpanaka is going to kill Sita he is ordering me to punish her. Thinking thus Lakshmana unsheathing his Sword cut the ears and Nose of Surpanaka. She wailed hoarsely and went running to the Forest the way she came. Surpanaka was born Vikara (ugly, revolting body shapes, scary, threatening, uncouth, cruel disguises / postures); ominous looking. With blood flowing profusely; she wailed like the summer clouds roar. She went to where Rakshasaas live and went to her elder brother Kara fell down like the thunder bolt. Out of fear, heady feeling she fainted and blood was flowing in torrent. She informed him of Rama, Lakshmana, Sita having come to their forest and that they disfigured her. (Slokas 26).
