Mahodhara Killed
Thus as seen in Summer the Lakes slowly losing their water levels, the 2 Armies were seen depleted in size and were tired, Lord of Rakhsasaa (Ravana) seeing his Army depleted and Virupaksha Killed got doubly enraged. Seeing Vanaras tearing his Entourages apart with their teeth was overwhelmed “Such a Time has also occurred to me” was in deep sorrow. Then he told Mahodhara who was near him “ Hey great warrior! At this juncture I am relying on you to win over the enemies. Show Your prowess by decimating the Vanaras army. This is the opportune moment to show your Loyalty as well as the Gratitude you have towards your Master. Be careful while in Battle.”
‘I will do so’ saying this Mahodhara jumped in the midst of Vanaras like the Fire moth jumps into the raging Fire, due to his natural Valour and Ravana’s motivating words killed Vanaras in hordes. They in turn killed Rakshasaas with huge boulders. Enraged Mahodhara severed the Legs, Hands of Vanaras with Bhanas (Arrows with Golden bandings). All ran to all corners. Some surrendered to Sugreeva. He saw his Army being scattered by Mahadhora, took a huge Moutain came running towards Him threw it on him. That Rakhsasaa undeterred with his Arrows sent it to smithereens. Like the Eagle crowd which goes scattering the Mountain was shred into pieces and fell on the ground. Ashamed of this Sugreeva was angry he uprooted a very Tall Aacha Tree and threw it on the Rakhsasaa. Even that was destroyed by the Arrows. Sugreeva when he was searching around saw a Pariham (Long Javelin Mace) swirling it hit the horses of the Mahodhara Chariot. Immediately that Rakshasaa jumped from that Chariot took a Mace. Both the warriors with Mace and Pariham fought a Pitched battle like 2 Oxen and like Clouds with Lightning streaks were roaring and fighting. Then Mahodhara with that Dazzling shining like Sun Mace hit Sugreeva. That was stopped by King of Vanaras with his Pariha weapon. Both the weapons broke into pieces and fell in the ground. Then Sugreeva picked up an Ulakai (War Hammer made of Melted Iron) and swirled it at Mahodhara who stopped it with another Mace. Both weapons broke the other and fell on the ground.
Like the 2 Homa with Fire both warriors got into a Boxing bout; both do not have weapons. In Aura and strength they were matchless; they punched each other vehemently, slapped each other, shouted, fell on the ground, jumped, leaped and hit each other; threw each other like wrestlers. Like this both warriors fought tooth and nail and got tired. Then very soon Mahodhara took a Sword & Shield and pounced on Sugreeva. He too took a Sword & Shield and pounced on Mahodhara. With Pride hurt both were growling and each one was chasing the other motivated and showed their Prowess and Practice they have in Battle Doctrines. Each one tried to jab from Left side and Right side and each one was committed to win over the other. Then Mahodhara deftly and swiftly split open the Sugreeva’s Vest with his sword. The Sword got stuck in the Vest while Mahodhara was trying to extricate it, Sugreeva took the opportune moment and sheared Mahodharas’s head with its Ornaments. Noticing this, the Rakshasaa Army ran scattered unstopped. Sugreeva and Vanara Army gave out a Loud War Cry. Dasagreeva (Ravana) was in fury and shining. Rama was happy. Rakhsasaas with pale face and Heart broken, with their Mind in turmoil ran hither & tither. Like Sun shines with its Dazzle similarly Sun’s son Sugrreva having slained the huge mountainous like Mahodhara got Limitless Fame. Thus even the Celestials, Yaksha entourages in the Sky Lane as well as all the Living Beings of the world celebrated. (Slokas 38)
