Ravana Chides Vibheeshana
Though one may not think of the meaning of vibheeshana’s words they are pleasing to hear. Hence even if the meaning was not favourable, one can not wean away from Listening. When uttered which will not make an impact on one’s Manam { Chitha (Memory)+Inner Conscience Mind + Intellect (Bhuddhi) +Ego} then one may not listen, Whereas it was spoken so eloquently that it did make an impact on Ravana’s Manam {Chitha (Memory) + Inner Conscience Mind + Intellect (Bhuddhi) + Ego}. Not only was it heartening to hear, since it has offered solace to the agony he was facing, it was very soothing for him. Though it may not have been Pleasing to hear those words, it was acceptable as it was meant for the Good of everyone and had to be supported. It is said unless a Student serves for at least 1 Year he should not be taught the tenets of God as per the Rule, one should stay in Guru (Teachers abode) for 1 year, serve the Guru, and the student should totally surrender that there is no other recourse than the Guru, only then he should be taught. Seeing the catastrophic danger awaiting Ravana, He gave the discourse though not matching Ravana’s desire. For if some one else had said this could have been ignored. Person who said this was born with him; He is party to Sufferings and agony; one who had been with him all along and knows all matters thoroughly. If that be the case Ravana should not ignore it. Whereas Ravana spoke words which should have been spoke to his Sworn Enemy which will pierce his heart in a Harsh Manner. Why because he is the tormentor of all the 3 Worlds and had sadistic enjoyment of the sufferings meted out to them hence he was known as Ravana. He is one hwo will do without reason wrong doings and suffer. Further ‘Surrender to Rama’ was told by his own younger brother. But his Ego said ‘Don’t do Like that’ Ravana not able to think as per his nature behaved as per the Fate’s ordain.
“We can Live with an Enemy; we can Live with the angry Kala Serpa (Which will tie it’s Noose once time of death is nearing); But one who acts like a Friend and favourable to the Enemy we should not Live with him ‘(meaning you leave this place). Hey rakshasaa! Amongst all the People of the World Daayadhi (Born to same Father and their Children’s network of same Gothram) what sort of Pople are they do you know? I know their conduct very well. When one among them is having problem they will be immensely happy. So when I am facing danger, you are jumping like this. If he was a person capable of achieving task, Scholar, Dharmavaan, they can’t stand him (Jealous). They insult him at an opportune moment. So it is no surprise you are jealous of me as I have all the Traits / Character. Dayadhi do not show their inner intentions; outwardly they may behave as the most friendly. Nature is very cruel; times of difficulties they will do Droham (betrayal, treachery) and spoil it. You are also like that. At the time of Danger, you are causing Keduthi (Calamity, Misery, Catastrophe, Harm, Evil) to me. One should shiver seeing Dayadhi.
In one Forest many Elephants were Living. One day some humans wanted to catch them, took along trained Elephants with Ropes and came there. Seeing them those Elephants said “Oh My ! We need not fear the Fire; nor do we have to be afraid of the weapons which kills instantly; the ropes in their hands will tie us and entice us, we need not worry that it will cause misery more than the death. We have to worry about the Dayadi’s (Trained Elephants) who want to save themselves only without least bit of pity. These people teach and will help Humans to catch us; there is no doubt on that. Apart from other fears, the fear caused by Dayadhis is more ominous, this we all know” - Said those Forest Elephants.
If You ask “When Dayadhis are affectionate towards us why fear?” From the Cows Milk, Curd, will be available in abundance; Like the simplicity is the nature of Brahmins; Like the Ladies are vascilating in nature; Similarly the fear from Dayadhi are also natural. I am born in a Noble family; I am appreciated by the world; I have stamped on Enemie’s heads; hence you have jealousy towards me.
If you ask “Since birth I have been with you, will I do that? “Bees desiring of Honey after drinking will it go and sit on the Flower which gave the honey? Similarly the Rascals however long they may stay with us is of no use.
If you ask ‘having been affectionate to you all along will I invite danger for myself?’ Elephant takes Bath to remove dirt, immediately Doesn’t it shower itself with mud on it’s whole body again? Similary are the Rascals will invite misery for themselves. During Summer however much the clouds may Thunder they do not cause Rain, similarly however much you show friendship, there is no benefit. Had it been anyone else said these words would he have been alive? Hey Rascal who has come to spoil the Rakshasaa clan, for the sake of having been born with me, I am allowing you to go alive. Chee! Run away from here” said Ravana.
Thus pierced by these harsh words Vibheeshana despite telling the justifiable words and Ravana not hearing them, thus this not the appropriate time, he took his Gadha (Mace) with his 4 Friends Rakshasaas with anger started on the Sky. Still “Unnecessarily he is inviting Disaster! At least now won’t he get the right intellect? “thus pitying Ravana once again counseled him which is good for Ravana. He was leaving Lanka, Friends and Wealth. He shunned the unfavourable things and desired to get Rama’s mercy which will be favourable to him and was adorned by the Goddess of Service (Kainkarya Lakshmi). “Hey Great King! However much Harshly you have spoken still you are my elder brother. Is it justified for me to speak against you? Please tell what ever you feel. If you ask ‘Why are you going? If you are unable to reply, bear with it’ You are Elder to me; equal to my Father; I should worship you. But you have strayed from Path of Dharma (Righteous conduct, Just, Duty, Pious, humble, Charitable, respectful, humble , Ethical, being Noble, all this done beyond expectation and without anticipation). What you say is not least bit the Truth. I cannot tolerate these harsh words. I had told the the path of Justice keeping your well being in Mind. But people who have succumbed to Agyaanam (ignorance, Pride, Arrogant Ego and partial in his affection for some one) and are enticed to Time’s journey will not support Hithopadesam (Wise sane Counsel). You will get easily people who speak words pleasing to the ear and also those who want to hear it in plenty. But if one finds the well meaning words is bitter the person who dares to say it and the person who is willing to hear it are rare.
If you ask ‘Why are you straining with a person who is not willing to hear?’ I know you are going to be destroyed by the ruthless Kala Pasham (Lasoie Rope of death which ties it's Noose around Living beings at the time of their Death, when their Life span is over) which doesn’t spare even an ant and treats all Living beings the same way. This is not to think badly of you. When your house is burning will one feel like leaving it? I cannot be a witness to the Rama bhaana with golden bandings causing death to you. You should not think can calamity will not strike Ravana for the Sands in the sea shore gets dissolved by the waves, the people who are bound by Kala Pasham (Lasoie Rope of death which ties it's Noose around Living beings at the time of their Death, when their Life span is over) be it Valorous, Strongmen, Great War Heros do perish. Please pardon me for my words which were meant for your well being only. Aren’t you elder to me? I have to somehow find a way to save you, Rakshasaas and this Lanka. May Blessing be showered on you. I will go and return. Seeking your interest I tried to stop you from your Adharma. You have not Listened to my words.
