Kumbhakarna Killed

Thus the Huge Vanaras took solace, courage from Angahda’s words and decided to fight it out, were now motivated with their natural courage were ready. Speaking of their Valour and believeing in their Vitality, decided to sacrifice their Life for Rama shouted with happiness surrounded Kumbhakarana and did Gory battle with him. Plucking Large trees, and huge Mountians, they hit him on all 4 sides. He got enraged and swirled his Mace and he killed Vnara Warriors in hordes, and sprewnedtham in all directions. He killed 700, 800, 1000 of Vanara warriors at a time. At the same time he simultaneously put 8, 10, 16, 20, 30 Vanaras into his mouth and ate them and came running. Like Garuda (King of Brids Eagle) plucks Serpents with its beak there was no count for the number of Vanaras who went in to his stomach. Then hearing their Army commanders plea the Vanara Army came running from all directions, with Trees, Mountains they surrounded him.

Dwivida plucked one huge Mountain, like the cloud on top of a Huge mountain threw it on kumbhakarana.That did not hit him but fell on the Rakshasaa Army behind him, killed instantly scores of Horses, Chariots, Elephants, and Rakshasaas. Again he took another giant Mountain and threw it thus killing the Charioteers, Horses, and made Blood flow like a Flood. Rakshasaa warriors with sharp Arrows sheared of Vanaras heads and roared violently. Vanaras in turn with huge trees killed Rakshasaas, Elephants, Chariots, Horses, Camels beating them black and blue and killing them. Hanuamn standing atop in sky went on incessantly showering Mountain peaks, Trees continuously on Kumbhakarana’s head. He used his Trident and powdered them with his sharp Trident came running towards the Vanara Army. Maruthi plucking one Mountain’s peak in his hand, enraged at his clan being destroyed, he stopped Kumbhakarana and hit him. With Blood and flesh smeared on his body Kumbhakarana with his body was not able to withstand that blow and staggered. Immeditley blazing like the Mountain peak on Fire, swirling his Trident which was a Lightning bolt in earlier times when God Shanmukha pierced the krouncha Mountain with his Shakthi weapon, he hit Hanuman on his Chest. It slit Anjhaneya with his senses not in control, with blood pouring out of his mouth like the Clouds during Deluge Hanuman roared. Seeing Hanuman in agony Rakshasaas were immnesly happy. Vanaras were worried and ran away from the battle field.

Then Neel regrouped the Vanara Army hit Kumbhakaran with a Mountain peak. Seeing it coming Kubhakarana clenched his fingers and punched it hard.That went into smithereens like fire sparklers and fell into the ground.Then the Vanara Leaders like Rishaba, Neela, Kavaksh, Gandhamadha, cahallenged Kumbhakaran simultaneously from all sides with Mountains, Trees, Boulders, Clenched Fists, Kicks, beat Kumbhakarana. They were like a pleasant massaging for HIM. He hugged Virukshaba with his Arm thus breaking his bones and his eyes and tongue popped out spewing blood he fell on the ground. He punched Sarabah with his clenched Fist and pushed him, with his knees he knuckled NEEL away, Kavaksha was slapped hard Gandhamadah was kicked hard - all this was unbearable for the Vanara Amy Commanders; they fainted and fell like the uprooted Phalasa Trees bleeding profusely fell on the ground. Seeing them many 1000 Vanaras Army surrounded Kumbhakarana. Huge mountain like body of his they climbed and bit him all over. Tore him with nails, punched him with fists, hit him had with their knuckles, Seeing them spread all over his body like the Trees grown on a Hillock, he with both his hands like Garuda with it’s beak eats Serpents swallowed them in rage. Those who fell inside his mouth came out through his nostrils, ears. Thus his anger furthered hugged them in hordes in his hands and put them in his mouth by hugging them tightly and breaking them and then fed into his mouth. With Flesh, Blood, Meat smeared and drenched by it was in Anger and was wandering in the Rakhssaa Army. He who came swirling the Trident People wondered that is He the Indra with Vajhrayuda or is he the Yama (God of Death) with Kala Pash. Like in peak of summer the forest fire burns all the trees Kumbhakaran with his Firing rage turned the Vanra Army into Ashes. With the Army commanders fainted the Vanara Army leaderless they shriked and shouted in fear. They were in hordes killed by the rakshasaa and not knowing what to do went for Rama’s Charanam (Refuge, Your Lotus Feet, Shelter, Help, Asylum, Support or all of these).

Seeing that Angadha plucked a Huge Mountain peak, with his Roar made those Rakshasaa Army following Kumbhakarana in Digil (Startling, stunned, numbed with fear) hit him hard on Kumbhakaran’s head. Not bothered least bit by that He shouted which made all Vanaras lose their balance and then pounced on Angahda and swirled the Trident. Angadha who is well versed in all form of battle just evaded deftly and escaped, and then leaped and hit him hard on his chest. Then Mountainous sichachara was sahkena bit and stabilized himself with his clenched left had fist hit him and threw him. That Vanara prince unable to bear it fell unconscious to the ground.

Seeing that Kumbhakaran raced towards Sugreeva with his Trident in his hand. Sugreeva in turn plucked a Mountain peak swirling it challenged him, anticipating it Kumbhakarana bent his varous Limbs and was waiting for him. Seeing the blood smeared Rakshasaa who was eating Vanaras unabatedly said “You have hit the Vanaras You have done extraordinary accomplishments; Eaten Vanara Warriors; Attained matchless Fame; what is it there with these puny Vanaras, come to me. Will you bear this hit of the Mountain peak? Thus Sugreeva talking with courage and arrogance, Kumbhakaran laughed out heartily and said “You are the grand son of Brahma (GOD of Creations in Universe), Riskhrajhas Son; Your Manliness, Vitality are known to every one why are yelling like this? “said Kumbhakarna. (Once when Brahma Yawned a Vanara named Riksharajas was born. While one day he was taking bath in a lake side his Body changed into Female Apsara (Lady angel). Both Indra (King of heaven), Sun God saw her and fell in Love with her. Thus 2 sons Vali and Sugreeva were born to her. Brahma laughed and said “You and Children please dip in this Lake and become Vanaras again”. Hence Vali Sugreeva are Brahma’s grand children and Rikshrajha’s son. Others say Sun was born to Kashyapa and to Sun was born Sugreeva. Thus Kumbhakaran teased the origin Of Sugreeva and how he was beaten by Valli was indicated to him.) Hearing that Sugreeva got uncontrollably enraged, with that Moutain peak hit Kumbhakaran in his Chest.That became powder on hitting his broad Chest. Rakshasaas did Aravaaram (Ostentation, Pompous, ruckus ovation credulous of their Victory ) whilst Vanaras did Varutham (Upset, regret, perturbed, feel sorry, sad, pained, unhappy). Kumbhakarana was enraged further opened his mouth like a Cave made a Lion’s roar which made the 8 Directions Nadungu (Stagger, Shaken, Shiver, Quiver, stumble, tremble) , Then Kumbhakarana swirled his Trident threw it to kill Sugreeva, Adorned with Golden necklaces with sharp pointed tips, spewing Flames of Fire, Anjaneya jumped, caught hold of it in mid way and broke it. That Trident was made by melting same Iron 1000 times and Which Anjaneya broke it with his bare hands taking support of his knees and he broke it as though it was a stick. Seing that the Trident which had killed many of their comrades Anjanyea breaking it made the Vanara Army roar in ovation. In Happiness they jumped and screeched; encouraged they came from all directions and came celebrated Maruthi and felicitated him. Kumbhakarana realsiing his important Trident weapon broken plucked a Mountain peak from Thrikoot range and hit Sugreeva with it. Sugreeva was hurt and fell in the ground unconscious. Rakhshassaas turn to celeberate now. Immediately Kumbhakaran took Sugreeva in his hand, was walking was very fast towards Lanka. All Rakshasaas praised him and shouted as though War was won. Deva Entourages shouted Ha Ha! at his strange turn of events. “If this King of Vanaras and the supporter of Rama Lakshmana is taken away then the Vanara Army will founder . Then it is easier to win it over. Kumbhakarana thought Rama Lakshmana without any desire will return and proceed towards Lanka thinking the War is won.

Seeing Sugreeva captured and Vanara Army in disarray intelligent Hanuman thought for a while “What should I do now? What is Yuktham (appropriate, Strategically correct, the right approach to derive maximum benefit) should be done forthwith. Shall I take a huge form Jump on this Rakshasaa and kill him? If I hit him with my fist and kill him and retrieve The Lord of Vanara then Vanara Army will be happy. Not that Vanara king can’t extricate himself. Now Sugreeva is unconscious with the Moutain hit by Kumbhakarana. Once he comes out to his senses he will do what is in the interest of Vanaras. If I relieve him, he might get upset with me and there will be unerasable infamy. I will wait and see what Sugreeva does. Let us see, let me pacify the Army which is in disarray. He stopped them then and there and encouraged them.

Kumbhakaran took Sugreva and entered Lanka. Flowers were showered on Kumbhakarana from the Houses, Minerats / Gopurams / Domes / Palaces. The perfumes / Flowers were poured. Though the King’s Boulevard was cool, Due to Sugreeva’s inherent strength woke up regaining consciousness and realized that he was sleeping on the hands of Kumbhakarana and saw the Houses and Palaces of Rakshasaas was near by felt “I am now in the hands of our enemy ,I have to just now extricate myself. I have to retaliate and for some action done by me. What is the way out? I should do what is in the interest of Vanaras and give them happiness.”Was thinking about this. Then with his sharp nails and Teeth Kumbhakaran’s Ears were torn, and tore the sides of Nose.Thus Kumbhakarana hurled Sugreeva into ground and was planning to grind him on the ground. Meanwhile the Vanara King jumped into the Sky came to Rama’s side. (Sugreeva tore Kumbhakarana in his cheeks, Shoulders, Stomach with his Nails on the Fingers in Legs).

With Ears, Nose cut with Blood running profusely, he, Kumbhakarna looked like the water falls of the Hills. Since he was with immeasurable Strength, Vitality he did not bother and again started for the War. Unable to bear this insult, he blurting Blood from his Mouth looked like the Mylai Mountain during the dusk which is clouded by Red Clouds. He realized he doesn’t have a weapon, so he pickedup an Ulakai (War Hammer made of Melted Iron) with his entourages went on a killing spree of Vanaras and eating them on the way. He was blazing away like the Fire of Flames during Deluge . Greedy of Meat, Flesh, Blood he went on killing Rakshasaas, Pishachas, Monkeys, Bears all alike without differentiation and eating them. Like the Deluge time he caught hold of Rakshasaas and Vanaras together and ate them unabatedly. With Blood profusely running all over his body the blood was coming from the side of his mouth. On the run he killed 800 Vanaras and ate them. Seeing this Vanras went to Rama and did Charanam (Refuge, Your Lotus Feet, Shelter, Help, Asylum, Support or all of these) to him.

Then Lakshaman was enraged, challenged him by shooting with 7 Fierce Arrows. He did not bother for this, crossed Lakshmana, and Earth shaking came towards Rama.Then Rama used Rudrha Asthra hit his heart with pierce Arrows. From his Face Embers of Flames came. Having been hurt by Rama Bhanas (arrow with feathers) yelling in Loud voice, with anger he was chasing the Vanaras .These Bhanas with peacocks hit him on heart and shook him. The Ulakai slipped and fell. Other weapons also fell helter skelter. When he realized there were no weapons he used his clenched Fists, Legs hit the Vanras and destroyed them. With his body pierced with Bhanas, due to extreme rage and and blood thirsty he ate Vanaras, Rakshasaas, Bears alike. Then he plucked a Mountain peak and hurled it at Rama. With 7 fierce Arrows Rama sent it into smithereens. Then Rama stopped Kumbhakaran who was carrying a huge mountain to kill the 200 of the greatest Vanaras. Lakshmana being a Dahrmatham thought of various ways to kill him and said “Sugreeva! Due to the thirst for Blood he is unable to distinguish between Rakshasaas and Vanras and he is eating everyone. Let Vanara Army climb on top of him from all 4 sides and Let the Army commanders surround him. By chance unable to bear the weight he may fall down thereby at least he will not kill the Vanaras. Hearing that the Vanaras were happy, they climbed over the Rakshasaas. Due to which his rage went up. Like the Rogue elephants throws its Mahuts he brushed aside Vanaras very quickly. Seeing this Rama said “This Rakshsaa is an Evil person”. Immediately took a special Arrow with Fiery Eyes as though to burn the enemy with Pride cam running towards Kumbhakarana. By this he pacified those Vanaras who were terrified of him, With Lakshmana following him with a Bow which was like Kala Sarpum (Serpent or Lasoie Rope of death which ties it's Noose around Living beings at the time of their Death, when their Life span is over) , with Golden banding Arrows, with Quiver with Arrows, shining in them. Started for the war with Vanaras surrounding him. Saw Kumbhakarna. With the Crown bejeweled with Navarathnas (1. Kembu- Ruby 2. Komedhaga - Sardonyx 3. Neela -Saphire 4. Maragadaha - Emerald 5. Pavazham –Coral 6.Pushparagam –Topaz 7. Manickam –Carbucle 8. Muthu –Pearl 9. VAIRAM / Vaidooriyam - Diamond / Lapis Lazuli) hel looked tall lika a Mountain. Blood was oozing all over his body; Listlessly Strong; was beating all the persons like the angered elephants. Being surrounded by Rakshasaas was searching for Vanaras to eat them. He was dangerous looking ike the Vindhya Manthara Mountain ranges, with Golden necklace and keyur Crowining Ear lobe balls, was uniquely adorned. Like the Monsoon clouds the Blood was coming from the side of his mouth. He went on catching hold of Vanaras and eating them, Kumbhakarna was like a burning ember. Rama seeing him, bent his Bow and strung its strings, he pulled the strings and made Dankaram which made all the 4 sides reverberate .Kumbhakarana too heard it and became jealous, and came running towards Rama. Like the clouds which have been pushed by strong winds, with long huge Arms, as though the Mountain was coming walking to him Rama asked that Khumbhakarana “Hey greatest amongst Rakshasaas! Please come do not worry; I am waiting for you with Bow and Arrow. I am known as Rama. In 1 Murtham (1 ½ hours) I will take your Life. Realising he is Rama with Anger and Happiness he roared in laughter like a thunder. He took Vanaras from all 4 sides and roared like the great Clouds thunder Kumbhakarana said “Don’t think me with disdain like Viradha, Kabhanda, Kara, Vali, Mareech, know that Kumbhakarana has come here. Have you seen this gory Ulakkai 9 war hammer ) in my hand? With this I have won over Devas and Dhanavas. This has been made by sturdy Iron. Are you ignoring that I do not have Ears and Nose? I have no regrets in losing them. You can use your Vitality and deftness on me to the maximum you want. I will see your Valiant Prowess and Manliness 1st and then I will eat you. Hearing that Rama hit him with choicest fierce Bhanas (Arrows with feathers). Though they fell on him like the Lightning bolt it did not stir him nor upset him. He used those Bhanas which earlier had pierced 7 Saal Trees and drilled hole in Mountain even they did not make any difference to Kumbhakarana. The Arrows sent on him were like the water drops on sea which gets amalgamated and unseen. Like the ocean which despite all the Rivers of the world flowing into it does not coagulate it nor does it make it cross the sea shore like wise, he with the Ulakkai in had deftly deflected the Bhanas sent by Rama. The Ulakkai (war hammer) which has made Devas run also made Vanaras run for cover.Then Rama used the Vaavaysthra he cut of Kumbhakaran’s hand with the ulakkai. Kumbhakaran with unbearable pain shouted which made all directions terrorise. That Arm which was like a mountain with the Ulkaaki which was like Vajhrayudha fell on the Vanaras and killed many 1000’s of Monkeys. The balance Vanaras were watching from a distance with pale face witnessed the Gory battle between Rama and the Rakshasaa trembling.

That Rakshasaa with his other hand plucked another tree and came running towards Rama came running like amountain which has lost its peak. It was like a huge Serpent coming from Skywards. With only arm carrying the tree was coming to attack Rama, The Raghu warrior sheared that 2ndArm also with Aiythasthra. That fell and destroyed Trees Mountains Rakshasaas Vanaras as well.

Even then he came running roaring towards Rama who in turn with 2 Ardha Chandra (Crecnet Moon Shaped Tip of the Arrow) cut of both his legs. When they fell the entire Lanka, Army on both sides, Sea and the forest all echoed back. With No legs, No Hands still that Valiant Prowess Rakshasaa roaring with his Mouth wide open like the Rahu planet come to swallow Moon during Lunar eclipse, his body rolled over towards Rama. In that process countless Rakshasaas and Vanaras were killed. Meanwhile he was eating who ever came on the way. With his raging breathing many thousands of Vanaras and Rakshasaas were pulled in by the force of the wind and died. Some were thrown apart for a long distance and thus they were killed. So Rama filled his mouth with special no of Bhanas( Cluster bombs !!). Unable to speak he fell unconscious. Then with no hands, Legs, Mouth shut he came running on his hip bones towards Rama.

Rama realized Kumbhakarna’s time of Death has neared, he shot an Ayindrashra after reciting the Manthra. Like the Sun rays it was dazzling and which could not be stopped like the Brahmadanda: This is one of the most powerful weapon in the universe. This astra is the most powerful weapon of Brahma, and desroys all the materials Like Yama ( God of Death) with tremendous Speed, and Glowing Tip that Arrow shone Like the Mid day Sun shining, Like Fire pleased with sacrifices, When that Asthra was launched by Rama it attracted all the direction with radiating brilliance, and fell on Kumbhakarana. His face which was mini mountain itself got sheared with his sabre teeth visible, the Dancing Balls which were in his crown went up in the sky it shone like a star and while falling destroyed in Lanka’s houses, palaces, boulevards while falling on the ground. Then his body killed many Millions of Vanara warriors who were trying to escape ground them to earth. One part of it fell into the sea shining like the Himalayas. Those marine mamalas like Crocodiles, Simsumhrs (Sea Lion?) Whales, Sharks, Hippos, Fish in countless numbers were also killed in that a process. His body went to the floor of the sea broke that portion and went deeper into the earth from there.

Khumbhakaran who had wth his cruelty made Brahmins, Devas Kadhara (Pleading, Yelling, Bellowing, screaming loudly, Exasperation) with his beastly exploits having been killed by all merciful grace of god Rama Earth, Devas, Mountains , celestails, Deities, all did Aravaaram (Ostentation, Pompous, ruckus ovation credulous of their Victory) Devas (Celestials), Dhanav (Demon), Gandharva (Musicians), Pisacha (Ghosts), Uraga (Fortune telling angels) and Pannaga (Serpents clan), Yaksha (Spirits), Manushya (Humans) their entourages seeing the Parakram of Rama were immensely Blissful. Ravanas Relations and Friends seeing Rama with all his majesty were crying aloud on the ghastly death of Kumbhakarna. He had thus dispelled the darkness that had engulfed all the 3 worlds earlier. Like the Sun which in hour of Rahu’s mouth ie after Solar eclipse. Amidst the Vanaras Army Rama shone. Having slained the Great Strong and Valorous Khumbahkaran in the battle, all the Vanaras were celebrating with their faces blossomed like the Lotus flowers. Ram also was happy at the slaying of Kumbhakaran who had many times earlier tormented Devas in Battle (Slokas 187).
