Lakshmana wounded by Shakthi Weapon
Thus Ravana got doubly enraged seeing his weapon being wasted took another Asthra which was created by Mayan, it is having Rudra as Ditey, with illuminence, he launched it on Rama, then from there emenated many Tridents, Maces, Long War Hammers (Ulakkais), Bows, Idi (Thunder) and other weapons which were Vajhra (indestructible alloy) and with Burning inferno which comes at the time of Deluge being carried by the Savage Winds (Chanda Maruthams) came at very high velocity. Raghava (Rama) who was the greatest amongst those who knew the secrets of Best of Asthra seeing that his Aura and Happiness increased Manifold. He used GandharvaAsthra and stopped them. Dasanana (10 Headed) used Surya Asthra from it emanated extremely dazzling Chakras (Wheels with teeth in their rims)and spread in the entire Sky, and looked as though Sun & Moon were filled all over in all directions beyond Horizons. Rama used very Novel Bhanas and destroyed them. Ravana with 10 Bhanas pierced him in all parts of the Body. Rama the great Tejhasvi (whose effervescence was Dazzling in all directions with Limitless Aura) undeterred pierced Ravana’s Limbs with many Bhanas.
Thus stopping Ravana and while Rama was taking a bit of a rest Lakshmana took 7 Choicest of Bhanas severed the Mast of Ravana’s Chariot containing Human Head on it’s Top and took away the ehad of Ravana’s Charioteer with his ear lobe balls Ornaments. The Rakshasaa Lord’s Bow which looked like the tusk of an Elephant was powdered with 5 Sharp Bhanas. The Horses which were like Dark clouds and huge in their sizes Vibheeshana jumped and killed them with his Mace. Immediately Ravana jumped from his chariot and with uncontrollable Anger took a Dazzling Shakthi (Lancer with pointed spear or Multi pointed Spear from Spehrical ball with many sharp spear extentions) on Vibheeshana. Before it could reach Vibheshana Lakshmana stopped it on it’s track with 3 choicest of Bhanas. Witnessing it Vanaras made a huge roar. From the sky like 3 comets burning embers fell the 3 sheared pieces of Shakthi weapon launched by Ravanawith Fire on to the Ground.
Ravana’s Pride was hurt and with Fiery Eyes took another Chaste Shakthi (Lancer with pointed spear or Multi pointed Spear from Spherical ball with many sharp spear extentions), which was worshipped by many fragrant materials like Sandawood, Akil etc; which can’t be neared even by Yama (God of Death). Was dazzling with its illuminence; gory Like indra’s Thunder Clap, was launched by the strong Ravana coming to kill Vibheeshana was noticed by Lakshmana thinking “if it fell on Vibheeshana he won’t survive”he pushed Vibheeshana aside and stood in the line of the Asthra, bent his Bow preventing Ravana from using the Shakthi with shower of Bhanas. So Ravana unable to kill Vibheeshana said to Lakshmana “Aday! Wicked, You allowed Vibheeshana to escape from Death today isn’t it? Instead this Shakthi is going to take Your Life. So far it has taken Life of many an Enemy. Look how it is smeared by Blood. It is going to pierce Your Heart and going to return with Your Life back to me”. With Fury Ravana launched the Shakthi weapon on to Lakshmana .It had 8 Golden bells and was tingling melodiously; Mayan with his Magical powers had created it; it would never go waste; it had the habit of destroying the enemies, and was Dazzling with its Illuminence. Having launched it Ravana knew Lakshmana can’t escape and this made him roar in Happiness. It came with a Thunderous Growling like Indras’s Thunder clap at a high Velocity. Then Rama blessed Lakshmana and said ‘May All Auspicious Blessings be showered on You’ and then he Looked at the Shakthi Weapon System “May you go waste unable to kill Lakshamana”.The Shakthi weapon which was launched with full fury like a Giant Serpent fell on Lakshamana’s broad Chest. Ravana had hurled it spewing Anger, that shakthi did penetrate Lakshmana’s body deep with burning emebers like the giant serpent’s tongue pierced Lakshmana’s Heart and he fell on the ground.
Rama who was beside him seeing this due to his affinity for him was anguished in his Manam (Intellect, Ego, Conscience, Memory ). Despite being great Thejasvi himself for sometime not knowing what to do became furious with tears swelling then he thought this is not the time for Grief decided to kill Ravana and did Gory battle with him. Rama’s Dhukkam (Grief, Pain, Anguish, sorrow, suffering, worry, unhappiness, heart rending situations) of Sita’s abduction got enraged further seeing Lakshamana’s plight. He decided to Kill Ravana at any cost. Leaders of Vanaras tried extricating the Shakthi and also failed to break it, as it had gone through Lakshmana’s body and gone into the ground. Rama deftly removed it and caressed Lakshmana on his wound. Meanwhile Ravana hurting continuously with Arrows on Rama, unmindful of same he hugged Lakshmana and called Sugreeva and Hanuman.
“Please be surrounding Lakshmana Like the Chaathak Bird waits for Monsoon to drink a drop of water, I have been waiting for this opportune moment to kill this Rakshasaa; today time has come; now I will use my Valour and shear all his 10 Heads. In the next 1 Muhurtham (1½ hours) either Rama or Ravana one of us will survive. Having lost the kingdom which came to my hand, came to Danadakaaranaya, and was on the move like Nomad there , Lost Sita, and having been complelled to battle with other Rakshasaas is no solace but only causes undue grief like Hell. Today I will kill Ravana and forget all those grief. Having brought the Vanara Army thus far, Killing of Valli, Crowning Sugreeva , crossing the Sea, building the bridge was not all these done only for the sake of killing this Ravana ? This sinner has been sighted by me today. Would he go back alive today? Would a person who once sighted by the Snake which kills someone by just seeing can he ever escape? All of you comfortably be seated in these Mountains and watch Liesurly the battle. Rama is the most valorous in all 3 worlds and is matchless and makes everyone happy with his Valiant Prowess and all the Devas (Celestials), Gandharvas, Sidhas, Charanas, Rishis (Sages), will all witness. The war I am going to wage today will be seen and remembered by ordinary Humans and Living beings including Devas Entourages will celebrate this as long as the Earth exists.
Wiith sharp Bhanas with Golden bandings, he hit Ravana carefully. Like Rain’s downpour Ravana poured Narasa Arrows, War Hammers on Rama. The Bhanas used by both of them created by the sound they generated and they fell from Sky Dazzling while falling on to the ground. The reverberations from the strings of their bow terrified all the Creatures of the world as though tearing their Heart apart. Like the Cloud which gets dissipated by Huge Storm, unable to bear the torrent of Rama’s Bhanas, Ravana ran away from there. (Slokas 65)
