Sampathi’s History
Due to youth exuebarance and Muscle arrogance we dared to follow Sun this I narrated him “ Lord! My entire body is full of wounds; due to shame my intellect is scattered; am extremely tired. Hence I do not have the energy to reply you appropriately. My self and my brother thinking we are specially endowed with great Strength, with intellect derailing us, we wanted to ascertain who can fly higher and had a competition and flew. We boasted in front of the Sages in Kailash we vowed ‘ We will follow sun from Sunrise to Sun set ‘ and flew into sky. From there the Cities in earth Looked like the wheels of the Chariot; some places we could hear Veda Recitation and in some places women with red garments were singing. Then we flew very fast and entered the Sun’s path and when we looked down the Forests in Earth were like tender leaf of grass, Giant Mountain ranges were like Stones, the Huge Rivers were like threads,Hiamlayas, Vindhyas, Meru were looking like the Elephants which were swimming in a Mound. While we were travelling like this Sun came to middle of the Sky.Then our sweating, sorrow and fear increased. Our intellect swooned, our sensory organs got disoriented, our intellectual thought process slipped, all directions NEWS were not visible. Entire World was seen as though being burnt in a battle of struggle in Fire like in the Deluge. When my Manam{ Chitha(Memory)+Inner Conscience Mind +Intellect(Bhuddhi) +Ego} which got scattered then, I go them oriented after lot of efforts, courageously looked up at Sun.To our Vsion it looked like the Huge Asian continent. Then Jhatayu swooned, without telling me fell unconscious below. Seeing this I withdrew from Sun’s vicinity very fast spread my wings I closed him so that Sun Rays do not attack him. So he was not burnt. I was careless, with an intention to save Jhatayu and had spread my wings , they were burnt and I fell. I guess he must have fallen in Jhansthan. I lost my consciousness and fell in Vindhya Moutain.I lost simultaneously my Kingdom,my brother who was born with me, my wings, my strength at a time. It is better to die and with this thought I have planned to fall down from the peak of this Mountain. (Slokas 71)
