Rama starts for Battle
Rama Lakshmana saw the bad omInous Omens Rama said “Lakshmana! These indicate the troubles for the People, create fear for all the Living beings and the anhilation of the Rakshasaas. In the Sky the Donkey coloured Clouds ready to pouring rain of Blood, with thunder and Lightining and circling ominously, See the same. Did you notice the good Omens indicating our Victory? Like me eager for the battle, my Bow which is decorated by the Golden bandings is twitching for a Fight. Smoke is emanating from the Arrows. These Birds screeching sound informs very quickly their fear and great danger that is awaiting us. My right Arm is twitching often, Fierce battle will happen soon I think so. In that Victory for us and the defeat for the Enemies is certain. Your Face is shining with radiance. This is indication of Victory. Those who are starting for war if they lose lusture their age also will diminish. The Rakshasaas Attakasam (Loud Laughter unaware of bad time nearing, overjoyed, ruckus behaviour), Sound akin to Lion, the sound of Beri Drums and other instruments have come near by. The person is wise one who takes cognisance of indicators and takes precautionary measures to avert impending danger. Hence you duly armed take Sita to those Mountain Cave and guard Sita carefully. I am fully aware that you are keen on battling with these Rakshsaa warriors. , You are a great Warrior, You are very strong, these people have to be killed. Still I will kill them as I have promised the Sages. Please do not halt my words. I am commanding you swearing on my Feet. Go Quickly” - Rama Ordained.
Immediately Laskhmana duly armed went to the cave with Sita Devi. Rama thought to himself - “He has done as I told him” and got happy and wore his shield. With the Divine Shield like Agni (Fire), Rama shone like the smokeless Flames of Fire in the Night. He made ready the Bow and Arrows and pulled the string which made the Dik (8 Directions) tremble with fear because of the reverberations. I was awaiting the arrival of Rakshasaas. Then the entrouges of Celestials, Gandharvas, Sidhas, Charanas, the Saints and Sages of all the 3 worlds came to witness that gory battle. “May the auspiciousness be showered on Rama who seeks the well being of all Living beings and Brahmins. Earlier times when Maha Vishnu killed the Asuras (Demons) with his Chakra Ayudha (constantly revolving Wheel weapon with sharp tooth on its rim) may Rama too kill these Rakshsaas” - thus they contemplated.and prayed Rama should win the battle.
“14,000 of Rakshasaas who are dangerous in their accomplishments have come; Rama is alone; How will this Battle turn out?” thus they were worried.
All the Living beings trembled seeing towering Rama who was ominous looking like the God of Death. The Rudra who starts for wiping out all the Universe at the time of Deluge, one could not cast his eye on Rama who was Dazzling with radiance and Aura.
Meanwhile the Rakshasaa Army neared. That Army with Gory Weapons, Shields, Flag Staffs, Sound of the Drums and Bugles, were like the Ocean churning which swells and trying to cross the shore unabatedly surging forward during the Monsoon was ominous looking. Some Rakshasaas roared like Lions, some looking at others said “I will kill Rama Lakshmana” were debating valourously. Some strung their bows and Dangara Sound making the atmosphere tremble. Some out of their Kozhuppu (Muscles – proud of his physical strength- physical arrogance) stretched& shook their Arms and Legs. Some shouted Goom. Some hit the Beri Drums and other instruments. All these sounds together created havoc in the Forest and made Animals, Birds flee in panic to far off places where it cannot be heard. Thus seeing the ocean like waves of Kara’s army approaching him very fast, The Great warrior of Battles Ram looked around. He took hold of the Kothanda (Bow) and took the Arrows from the Quiver. Though he is Mercy personified he in order to shelter his Devotees invited the Anger. Unable to see the Dazzling Rama who looked shone like the Fire of Deluge, the Deities of Forest ran away with fright. The enraged Rama was looking like Rudra when he ravaged the Dhaksha Yagnya.
With many weapons and fire like illuminence of Shields Decorations and Flag Staffs that Army shone and stood in front of Rama, this was akin to Dark clouds spread far and wide gathered in front of Rising Sun. (Slokas 37)
